I also wonder if 2018 (when Hereditary came out) and 2019 (when midsommer came out) had any significance to that as well.

i like the videos where you point out what may have been missed, but in this video you point to a number of shots that just aren't in the film or stretch a metaphor too far to try to seem clever. the maypole doesn't align over the food sculpture in any feast scene, the people in the burning house aren't scarecrows, that's just you stretching again. you're going past analysis to making a few things up now... the scarecrow is interesting enough just for his fear of fire, fighting witches, and his role as the 'fool' of the group... no need to call effigies in the ending house 'scarecrows'. and on and on. like the videos, stop stretching for things that aren't really present

I am surprised that the fact that the main character's dead family are haunting her was not included. Her sister's face appears in trees in one shot, and her mother as well as the sister can be seen as extras in certain parts. Also, the mosaic at the beginning spoils the whole film.

Pelle was grooming Dani for the ritual. While she is granted the “choice” to sacrifice Christian, the whole group had been drugged and manipulated by the cult for every step. Except for the pissing on the ancestral tree part, but I suspect the group was doomed for the start.
Also, I think Pelle mentions his parents died in a fire, which makes me think that they were previous sacrifices like the scarecrow people this time.

The symbol with the open mouth is pertho and is related to mystery and feminine reproductive systems
And the symbol seen on the ritual garb of the exchange student is fehu, which directly translates to cattle but could be broadened to concern money and status.

Wether or not these were used to give a general air of “Nordicness” or were actually used meaningfully I’m not sure of. Admittedly I hated the movie for other reasons so that may color my impression but I don’t think much thought was put into it.

I stopped watching this the moment you mispronounced Pelle’s name. You would know how his name is pronounced if you actually bothered to watch the film, even just once, never mind the fact you’d have to watch it more than once just to catch things you’ll miss the first time around
