I (finally) tried 'Assassin's Creed: Black Flag' again...

I would love a game that took place at the height of the “Golden Age of Piracy”. Honestly I think Rockstar would be THE team to bring it to life the way you described. Pirates are by definition criminals and Rockstar is no stranger to telling stories about criminal life. Open world design is literally their trademark and they are probably the most capable studio for hyper realism outside of PlayStation’s family of developers.

The game being historically accurate must not be mistaken for it being realistic.
Of course, it would not be enjoyable for it to be realistic, but historically accurate is definitely possible while retaining the enjoyability.

Black Flag is amazing

For me i do not mind the modern era gameplay. But I think the golden age for this were the first 3 games. It was core of the game. It was actually the second storyline and i was excited every time what secret it will reveal next.
From there the modern era gameplay started to loose. I think they tried to stick with it, but they never find the right balance and interesting story to tell there. So it was still interesting from start of the game but later on it was like advertisement in TV movies. You can stand it through, but its not interesting.

this game makes me sad after i turn off my ps3, because no game, to this day, matches what this game conveys. Not a single one.

It's just incomprehensible to me that there is no Black Flag 2 and 3.

Jak & Daxter is my #1 wished for game today. The whole trilogy. You can throw in Jak X, but the trilogy would be enough. If Jak could get the treatment Spyro, Ratchet, Crash & Destroy All Humans got, rather than a PORT of the PS2 game, it'd be surreal! Full remake and nothing less.

Love the game to pieces. This and AC2 were both super special gaming experiences for me as a young teen. One thing I remember about black flag however is how broken sword combat is. Literally with the counter button you can just instant kill every enemy around you when they try to attack. I did this for almost an hour nonstop in the plaza of the first town you visit at the beginning of the game when the guards attack you. Literally broke that playthrough because of how much money I looted off all those guards. Whats really funny too is that the game will run out of guards that are loaded into the level and you have to wait a second before an entire new pack showed up.

A modern black flag would be amazing indeed. Broken at launch and filled with mtx and assets from previous 5 games or so.

Meanwhile, everybody and their mother is wasting time to improve graphics with debatable results, instead of actually improving the quality of the game.

AC Odyssey's character is beyond cringe, I absolutely hate him so much that I could never even play the game. Now thats bad.

I just bought a used ps4 disc of the game for $8 in a bargain bin . Will try it on my Ps5 soon.

How does it play in 2023 performance wise?

Black Flag was the rehearsal to make games like Origins Odyssey and Valhalla it was the only AC game of that period I didn't find boring.

Despite the patch, i still cant play it. It keeps freezing on me after the initial cinematics at the point where Edward says "Can you see her?". One of the best games I have ever played.

Sadly i doubt it'll be a true remake. Id put money that its going to be upscaled graphics and a performance boost for consoles. Not a true overhaul type deal

I downloaded a 'Hard' mode for AC4 just because I was pretty used to the Kenway's gameplay and wanted to challenge myself. So far all the enemies counter, some can't be taken down my any normal counters and you have to use tools.

When parkour, open worlds, stories, and cheaters like Edward exist, why in the absolute hell would we as fans want to play RPG trash like Mirage?

Yeah, the less time i spend navigating bodies of water within a boat or a ship in an AC game the better. I just feel like that feature started the bloat which plagued AC games onwards.

so i just downloaded AC4 for pc and for some reason the ps5 controller works but wont show the right layout it uses the keyboard layout any tips?

I’m playing AC 4 again after probably 10 years while I wait for some stuff to come out and it holds up amazingly well. It’s just as fun in 2023 as it was in 2013. It’s blows my mind that there’s yet to be a pirate themed game to top this in all these years and no sea of thieves doesn’t count and now seeing the footage from skull and bones, it’s a downgrade. In ACBF you can do everything, wanna attack a fort? Cool, destroy the walls then dock and run into the fort you just destroyed and kill the commander. Wanna loot a warehouse? Cool. Jump off your ship, find the guy with the key, disable the alarms and empty the whole thing. Now 10 years later, we’re pulling up to land and doing a mini game to harvest resources. Wanna know how you got resources in ACBF? Plundering ships just like it should be

Eh......yeah welcome to the party.....now you can start to get annoyed at the new AC games properly because you know what's missing.

The biggest question I have is, How did you manage to run the game without it freezing or crashing within 5 minutes?

The only AC games I've ever played are Assassin's creed 2 and Origins. I really don't feel as if I'm missing out on much...

I played this game to 90% at least 3 times

This may have a good story, but I'm not sure how people can even tell because the controls are so frustratingly unresponsive. I would love to play the old AC games, but when I try, I literally can't because it's impossible to control the character.

For some reason i always found the ship battles hard as hell in this game say compared to Odyssey other then that its a great game
