2022, BG&E2 still on complete radio silence since that E3 a few years ago.

Ubisoft and complete radio silence about """upcoming""" games, name a better duo.

Being a massive LotR fan, the fact BG&E left a big impression on Jackson, especially at the time being at the absolute height of his career just finishing work on the trilogy is just another layer to the cake of how much I adore and respect this game. The Ancel controversy on the other hand is an unfortunate detractor, especially on top of hearing he cut down the open world elements (even though I very much agree on his criticism of how overboard WW went with it) since along with the general lack of content/short playtime, the cramp of the world and over concentration of what side content that exists in the Pedestrian District is my biggest gripe with BG&E.

BG&E 2 with an open world co-op concept and an overarching story still could work and if successful, it’d be very interesting / ground-breaking.

The best thing to do would be to try to strike a balance between the two. Gamers like large worlds to explore but we still want to experience a story as well. Ubisoft is reported to have calls it one of their most ambiguous titles and I think that concept is a lot more interesting than a simple follow-up to Jade’s story. That’s basically playing it safe.

Seems hard to believe they waste that tech. The game has real-time strategic zoom on a planetary level. The possibilities are endless when you and your crew / co-op buddy can be on completely separate areas while the game still runs. I think some sort of Far Cry 5 Co-op adventure would be really cool.

I feel like the game would need some sort of dynamic elements to really take advantage of fact that your party can split like this. Your co-op partner should be able to assemble their own crew or group and go on separate missions or whatever. But then there would also need to be events that are big enough to require both of you to be together… it’s a difficult thing to execute. It’s like ‘okay sure, you and your friend can be on different planets if you want to but why would you? The whole point of playing co-op is to play together? What kind of mission structure could make splitting up a good even compelling idea? Not stupid fetch quests. It’d take some really good writing with a lot of dialogue options to sell something like that I think… and that’d take serious time.

I still find the story previews of the BG&E2 game to be very interesting; but then the cinematics for most games are almost always much better than the game itself. For instance the massively improved graphics for DragonAge: Inquisition don't come close to the quality of the cinematics for DragonAge: Origins. Still; if the game ever did come out it could potentially be something cool if it even meets some of it's potential based on the cinematics. I love a game with a story and this one seems very interesting.

BGE2 isn't going to happen. Ubisoft is arguably the WORST studio. Michel Ancel is a man full of empty promises, and now quit the studio. Unless they acquire BGE licenses and move on from Ubi, which is never going to happen, this game will not happen. Even if it does in 10 years' time, its gonna be sub-par at best. BGE was and still is my top 3... It is so sad and discouraging to see one of the most legendary games (imo) is being pushed around like a ball and overshadowed by crappy titles that absolutely nobody cares about. Well done Ubi, well done Michel Ancel.

he overheard some other nerds like my brother and I talking about the sequel.
he heard that beyond good and evil 2 is completely finished with production and that there's a copy of the game just sitting there. unannounced and unreleased, due to the bankruptcy of ubisoft.

ubisoft. listen to your children AND RELEASE THE DAMN GAME

Whoever is in charge of Ubisoft may not know what their doing anymore; and perhaps there needs to be a change? Either you finish the game and release it or just cancel it all together? You can't keep doing this whole limbo choice forever because Duke Nukem Forever proved that it can't always turn out well. I feel sorry for both Rayman and BG&E, those games deserve better. At the very least, Michel Ancel should of had someone to show the ropes of his vision, so then they could find their own, but no. And now it all seems meaningless in the end.

My uncle grabbed a bunch of ps1 and 2 games from a store apparently at random one day and gifted them to me to make up for (quite a few) missed birthdays/Christmases around this time. This was one of those games. I regret not playing it. (I was only ~9 and he'd bought me 10+ games, so I was overwhelmed and eventually lost it. As kids do.) But I did get to play a few of the Army Men games.. so, I did have a good time.

Dear ubi soft your original left a great and happy memory on my mind from child hood and im 27 now and am still inlove with the original.
The story line was beautiful and how it felt to explore was a whole new sensation and feel to think you guys are making a sequel nothing like the original is truly sad so I'm glad ill never play it nor will I look into it because nothing ever beats the original.

I remember playing the hell out of this when I was 17. I had just moved back to my moms house in Thunder Bay after living in London(Ontario) for a year with my older sister and my niece. My mom had taken a job in Toronto and was working there then while trying to sell this giant house(7bed-4bath) which used to be an old group home. It was just me and my little sister living there at the time. I didn't have a drivers licence but my mom's van was always there to use if the occasion arose to grab groceries(actually when i learned how to cook). Living in a rural suburban neighborhood(forests, trails, ravines, rivers, all that comfey stuff) just out side of the city by 6km(3.7mi) there was only this little tiny convenience store off the main drag, and they rented PS2 and Xbox games. For some reasons they had the ubi 3 at launch, Splitter cell, Prince of Persia and Beyond Good and Evil for rent at one time. The first two were rented out, So I rented Beyond good and evil, grabbed some Pepsi and Doritos(and cigarettes because I looked a lot older than 19 and was chummy with the Grandma behind the counter, and it was 2003. I no longer smoke) I re rented the game 2 times after the OG 3 day window to return so I could finish it. To this day, It still holds a special place in my heart for getting me through a tough time as a teen.

It's taken so long for BG&E2 to be made that once(or if) it does come out it will be the biggest jump in quality and shift of identity a sequel has accomplished. Judging from all the leaked footage, it looks like what the 3rd or fourth entry in a franchise would normally look like. The tone in what was shown of the sequel is so drastically different from the first game. It would be like in an alternate timeline where Capcom struggled to make a sequel to Resident Evil for nearly 2 decades and then they finally made one and it's what Resident Evil 5 was...

The music of BGE always make me reminisce on the good times I had in the game. I love the music, but now when I hear it, I tear up a little. I've wanted to have a second one ever since I played it on the ps2. Now... I'm not gonna worry anymore. Until it gets released, just gonna keep listening to the soundtrack and drift away into that deep blue sea.

I was a huge fan a BG&E and played through it again recently. I’m also one who has been waiting for a decade to see what’s next for Jade and was really shocked, and not in a good way, with the latest trailer. While the visuals and potential scope of the game look incredible, I feel like the heavy switch into a very adult game loses a lot of the charm of the original. The original had the appeal of darker and more serious themes presented to a younger audience. It had a sense of wonder and innocence being corrupted from within. For me personally I found the new game trailer to be a bit tasteless and not faithful to the original. That being the case I’m conflicted on if I want to see this game actually come to light, or just let the legacy of the original live on unfettered.

ubisoft: "hurr durr, BGE failed thats why we will not develop other new game IPs"
did they got just one braincell or why don't they ask the proper question WHY it failed?

Ubisoft since a lot of years just turned into a shty game company. just antoher EA and Activision Blizzard.

I know it might sound cruel. . . But I would rather see the game being cancelled than seeing it become a microtransaction hellscape of an MMO that is purely designed to be a miserable experience with QOL cash shop items or a Pay2Play system that will mean that once the lifetime of the game is over, it would be gone for good.
