Why Most AAA Games Have No Soul

Basically EVERY "attempt at innovation" Activision made with Call of Duty after 2012 made every subsequent game worse and worse. This is a franchise where Innovation is POISON. I enjoyed the advanced movement Era 2014 - 2016, but the majority of players hated the larger skill gap and it died. Every game has been more dumbed down than the title before, to the point that SBMM is aiming to permanently force you into the tightest matches at all times, making it impossible to see any skill progression until they throw you a pity lobby for you to punch down on likely disabled gamers in an attempt to make you feel good about yourself. When in reality its hollow AF, and you KNOW you didn't belong in their lobby and there is no pride to be had in that victory. And when you are doing well despite their attempts too keep you in line via your oppositions skill level, THE GAME ITSELF FUCKING CHEATS!!

The ONLY good innovation has been the engine, Adding deadzone, Response curve and FOV options, and admittedly nicer graphics.

My main point is that while the innovation has the POTENNTIAL to be good, not all innovation is Good. And for some games ANY Innovation is poison.

Screw the 80/20 rule, we need full-blown socialism.

Elden ring released unfinished though, like there were literal quests that went undone because they cared more about getting the game out than making it finished at the start, and it was so badly designed that no one even noticed. A quest ends abruptly? That's just souls games for ya, onto the next one. That's not a good standard to follow.

Honestly I tried dark souls 1 and quit a week after lol but once elden ring was announced, some hidden love and curiosity came out and now I’m playing dark souls 1 about to finish it and gonna finish all the others

It's a bit ironic to make a point about Ubisoft "making the same game over and over again" and using FromSoft as the alternative.
Yes, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring are very different games but the foundations are fundamentally the same. We're not gonna ever expect this company to make Stardew Valley 2 or FIFA 2025.
This isn't to say Ubisoft isn't deserving of criticism, just showing the problem with the argument.

If Ubi devs complain about a From soft game they clearly don't have the slighest idea of what makes a good game, which is also reflected by their own games. So it's their only logical response.

What made Elden Ring so successful was not just being a good game. But it's a good game that didn't shove any woke SJW cancer politics down people's throats. There were no cringey characters that looked like they spend more time on Twitter whining about various left wing political issues than playing video games. There was no constant barrage of POC in the game. I haven't bought it or played it but I did watch videos about it. I didn't see any of that stuff. What I did see was a game that played similar to all the other Souls or similiar games released by FromSoftware. It didn't seem to do anything new either. Just it wasn't full of woke SJW politics and it wasn't ruined by a bunch blue haired loonies on the dev team.

Horizon didn't perform as well as Elden Ring, because Elden Ring isn't full of woke "girlboss" shit.

The reason why Modern Warfare 2 did so well is because so many of us were expecting a great new title like Modern Warfare 2019 but that didn't happen, I really wish I could just refund it.

Ubisoft is such a trash company, their games are probably one of the worst games ever made, their earlier games were great but man they haven't made a single GOOD game in the last 10 years.

Wow I feel like I have reached a higher plane as a gamer since the ONLY game I bought from that list was indeed elden ring specifically because it seemed different and new, not even ragnarok I bought which I AM very interested in playing but I'll just wait for some offer.

I never knew a developer of another game could be such a loser about another game's success. Like why can't other developers just celebrate another developers success? Like when black people invented disco, there was a party In the streets!

I don't know why people act like Elden Ring was anything 'new'. There are countless AAA games that were great, but most people just didn't pay attention. They'd rather just look at 'bad' games and say that's everything, instead of actually enjoying stuff as it comes out.

Edit: Stopped watching halfway in. I think it's a hilariously bad joke to say "Elden Ring was something new and not formulaic" and then turn around and say Assassins Creed is. Both are just iterations on what came before, but have also changed so much over the years, that anyone actually playing them can tell the difference. Sure, if you just look at AC Valhalla, it might look like it hasn't changed, but I can say the same thing about Elden Ring, to Demon's Souls. People judging games by their cover is a large part of the problem with the gaming industry, not just the games themselves.

Elden Rings is not that great after all. Many people already agree that it is not your typical soulslike either,despite the fact it was developed by the soulslike dev team no.1. Right? The end of gaming was propagated when an American console and video game "giant" died off due to bad copyright handling and other things like their employees being constantly on drugs and other shit. So it seems pretty much an American bragging right to be pessimist about gaming culture and future.

Games should be easy going and easy controls but innovation is gone, so VR had to come into the scene.

Elden Ring is no breath of fresh air. It's a slightly improved copy paste of every other fromsoftware game, but a new audience found it. I'm not saying it's bad at all, in fact I think it's good, but to treat it as if it's this great new idea is completely false.

There's an old saying that we most of us if not all of us know from our childhood and probably still hear it today. "Jealousy makes you nasty". Maybe if they were inspired by FromSoftware's innovation and success they too could be successful. We are not limited to playing and/or owning one game. Make a good game and people will love it and play it... It's quite simple. Games are just pumped out these days to make money with no interest on the consumer... This is not only an issue in the gaming industry unfortunately.
