I've got a question. You see, in nature cherry tree propagates its seeds by making animals have the fruits and carry seeds to be out onto the soil so that seeds will be placed and start to grow up when its surrounding is friendly to germinate. Or some of them must be fallen into the ground directly and searching for the chance to germinate on the spot where they were placed.

But now, we are interfering plant's natural growth process, cracking the shells, putting seeds in the freezer to fool them as if they're passing through cold winter, then planting them in small pots and so forth...

So my question is, what if we just put the cherries in the soft soils and watch them starting the whole growth process all by themself, with no interference of us, just let them grow the way as they always have done in nature.

Then, won't they be germinated nor sprouting, sprawling up? If we don't get in their own lifecycles artificially, they won't be able to grow nor survive? I mean, what about the planting cherry in the pot instead of seedling like that being said in this video? Won't it work?

Is it possible to grow an "Evans Bali Cherry Tree" from seeds, with the tree that sprouts being a true Evans Bali Cherry Tree? I have seen Evans Bali Cherry Tree seeds available online, but am wondering if it would actually grow to be a true Evans Bali Cherry.

After damaging a few seed i came up with this method ! Take the pit sharpest end and hold it to a bench grinder. After a few seconds a small hole will appear in the hard outer shell ,through this hole you can easily nip away at the hard outer shell with a pair of nail clippers. Did over a dozen in less than 5 minutes !!!

I tried lots of ways to get that seed out of the shell. PLEASE quit nipping and pinching your hands. This is super easy, fast and nobody gets hurt. You probably already own a cheap pair of needle nosed pliers. Drop the seed into the hole intended for cutting wire. Close the pliers. The hole is just a little smaller than the cherry pit. Ta=da the shell is broken. The pits are a little sticky from cherry pulp sometimes and you might need something pointy to push them out. If your pliers are small like the jewelry or electronics size the wire hole might be too small. My pliers are cheap ones stamped "China." A gazillion of them were made and sold. Look for their green handles but almost every set will work. Try it.

Jamaican cherry seeds are so different. There is no hard outer shell. It's chewable, and they grow without assistance from humans. There's a cherry tree growing outside that we didn't plant.

You are fun, but you miss important information that promotes 99% success. One is using hydrogen peroxide for 20-180 minutes to soak seeds. Another is greenhouse effect by putting a clear plastic bag or bottle over young plants to hold the moisture. And always: pH of soil and water. Soil shock kills. Try using coconut coir or perlite or vermiculite. Or my favorite: cow compost/Peatmoss/fine pine bark mixed together and sterilized and using diluted worm casting juice for the initial fertilizer. pH correction may be needed. Put baby plants over 100 degree heated mat to stimulate fast root growth.

Very helpful. I have a suggestion. I discovered that a crab cracker tool is perfect for breaking them open. It has a small end for crabs legs that is perfect for cracking the hard outer shell.

Hi there! I have to be honest that at this point, i don’t even trust google after I’ve seen this video. I am confronting a problem. My mom stored the seeds of some delicious cherries from weeks ago. They started to have mold on them and when I cracked one, the little seed inside is dry. The big question is: can I still do the process as you instructed if they are in this state? Thanks!

May I suggest that instead of wire cutters. Try standard adjustable pliers in the larger adjustable setting.
Hard outer breaks very easily and the seed is not damaged.
