I plan to use adapted Zeiss ZE lenses. How does this compare to the canon R5 or Leica SL2 in terms of sharpness and color rendering? Anyone?

I’ve sort of had a Jones for the Hasselblad x1d2, but without image stabilization, I don’t feel it’s as good as this Fuji.

Crap evf compared to Lumix S1R which is 5.7 million dot. Yes it's medium format but the price of the lenses is ridiculous.

Man I listen to your review on the Fuji GFX 50sii I really like that Fuji-but you made me depressed:( but I realized that’s just your opinion. So I dismissed the notion of your review or opinion of this beautiful Fuji GFX 50sii. I also hate when reviews
compare a MD to a full frame it’s not faire.

This is an awful review from someone that doesn't understand the point of medium format

Ok but noone uses a medium format camera for fast action shoots or street photography. It's a bit unfair to judge a camera based on criteria completely unrelated to what it's meant for, like AF speed or burst rate. Judge it based how good it is for landscape and portrait, that's what people use MF cameras for.

Its a landscape camera. Essentially..yes it can be used for many things but it's Essentially a tripod based camera with brilliant images. I think this would be fabulous for landscapes...and is it bad to have a landscape specialist camera.

What does 35mm crop mode do on a native GFX lens? Say you had the 80mm F/1.7 which works out to be a 63mm F/1.3 in full frame terms. Does that 35mm crop mode turn the lens into a true 80mm F/1.7?

I agree the sensor should be "upgraded. However, for what it is, and the price, a 50MP "Medium" format sensor will get more detail and colors than a Full Frame 6MP sensor. There is somethign about the look of a full frame... It has a special depth, more colors.... so, I still think that this may be a better option for some people. My opinion, and I agree with the advantages of the FUll frame (and especially newer) sensors, however, there is a special look that you don't get with full frame and even a 50 MP medium format will give you that special look.

This is a frustrating review. Why why why, do reviewers talk about megapixels without discussing light gathering capabilities of larger sensors, larger pixel sizes, or whatever other issues are relevant to image quality. The megapixel count comparison is simplistic. Going from a 35mm to a 6x7 was a stunning experience, never mind 4x5. I want to know if moving to this camera is anything like that experience.
Do we really need this review to figure out that this isn't for sports or street photography?

The likely use case here is someone doing large gallery prints or print work. Is the image quality distinctly better in that situation. Wouldn't know from this review.

I'm always disenorientated by the fact every reviewer puts an emphasis on rolling shutter, and slow autofocus tracking on a freaking medium format stills camera. Wrong tool for the job! I know they're just searching for any perceived flaw to make it a credible review, but those aren't flaws for medium format. People who own a medium format camera, have other cameras. They don't need to be a one camera for all tasks kind of thing, that's what APS-C is for. Man I miss the day when half of all the reviews weren't about video performance. I miss film too. This is a stills camera, to create art with. The thing that I'm battling, is the fact that MF sensor technology seems to move very slowly, and the FF, and APS-C guys are a few generations ahead. That's my big hesitation. I used to shoot sheet film in a view camera, but now I've actually moved back from FF and went APS-C, and they just keep improving. What's good enough to create art, really? We had 10 mp cameras not too many years ago and they were cutting edge then. Then when Hassleblad came out with their digital backs, fashion magazines set requirements of like 12 mp for their photographers to have "publishable images" to separate out their work from the riff raff with their lowly 10 megapixel cameras, lol. Now we're at 50mp, and questioning if it's even worth buying because the 100mp camera is better, haha. It's a funny world. I need to break out my Rolleiflex TLR and shoot some film I think. Get back to real photography. Modern photography is getting swamped by tech, and it's sad. I remember when the Zeiss Otus lenses came out and when searching for images taken with the lens all I could find were images of people's cats, lol. This is what our world has become, and bunch of people using the height of photographic technology, taking snapshots that suck. Sad.

I personally wish for a stills only camera w/o all the extra buttons and menus for videos. And I much prefer the ergonomics of Fuji over the other brands. Not everyone is a social geared looking for all the bells and whistles.

It's a entry level camera for the format. But it's more expensive than high end full frame. So you leave a lot of features behind.

I'd love to see a 50 megapixel-ish medium format with an upgraded sensor and processor to allow for a proportional upgrade in dynamic range over the latest full frame sensors, while also bringing it in line with even just the X-T2 or X-H1 in terms of readout and autofocus. It sucks that this is Fuji's answer to full frame cameras like the Z7 and A7R. The GFX50s ii straddles the line... It either needs to be $1k cheaper or be a significantly more competitive camera, even if the resolution doesn't change.

Not sure I agree with your conclusion. I don't shoot video so why pay for a camera that shoots 4K if I never use it. I don't shoot sports so not having phase detection is not an issue. I like shooting in a square format so cropping on a full frame camera would not give me as good an image. I don't need 100MP. This camera gives me the aspect ratios I'm looking for, sufficient MPs, great dynamic range, IBIS and the beautiful Fuji film simulations. File sizes are more manageable than the 100s so kinda sounds like the perfect camera for me!
