This was the finest generation when it came to serving our country. Unfortunately, many dropped the ball when it came to raising kids when they came home. The USA was wrecked by the offspring of the brave and selfless men. We are still paying the tab for those hippies, draft-dodgers, etc. Admittedly, Viet-Nam was a huge blunder... courtesy of the Democrats.
ОтветитьIs this we’re the Americans win ww2 all there own wow what a country ?
ОтветитьThat's the pronouns they used in the 40's, should 've heard my uncle from 5th marines

ОтветитьMy father also fought in World War II, but in Europe in the US Army as a second lieutenant.
It amazes me today where they found all of these patriotic Americans.
Even though my father was a junior officer, he was overseas for 3 1/2 years Fighting the Nazis. During that time he had a two week furlough to come back to the States,
Almost all of this generation is gone now. May they all rest in peace. They all went through hell no matter what the theater of war.…
i wish there is no more war
ОтветитьBest combat footage I've ever watched. RIP to all those brave guys who didnt make it back. God bless them . All my respect .
ОтветитьYou know, at first, I thought the narrator said "nerdy" Marines and was wondering how that worked. But I checked the transcript, and it said "nervy" Marines, which made a lot more sense. 😂
ОтветитьOUTSTANDING VIDEO
ОтветитьAmazing documentary!
To think they were so young and now most are gone or over 100 years of age. Wondering who was the youngest aboard The Lady. If any who are still around.
If these men see what the world and the USA have become, I wonder what they would think.
ОтветитьHarry Morgan is the voice of the skipper
ОтветитьWhy wasn’t Robert Taylor given credit for his heartfelt narration of the Fighting Lady’s proud accomplishments?
ОтветитьTough times, strong men.
ОтветитьYorktown was the fighting lady in the documentaries I’ve seen.
ОтветитьMy youngest daughter and I went to the 2023 Yorktown reunion at Patriots Point, first I had seen the ship since I mustard out in 1962. I expected to see at least one there whom I knew, sadly I think most of my shipmates are gone now. The ship needs lots of work now, but she is still afloat.
ОтветитьI was on the now decommissioned USS John F Kennedy back in 2000-2004. this brings back memories of my time aboard a carrier.
But at the 12 minute mark, berthing full of sailors standing around, playing cards, listening to some guy playing the star spangled banner.... is that what they did back then.
Gesh. I was a machinist mate 3rd class. If i wasn't on watch, i was in line for chow, taking a shower, and off to the rack. Not much time for socializing.
If i were in this picture, I'd be hanging out my bunk tells the other goofballs,
"Hey, yous mugs, turn off those lights and pipe down, will ya?! Im trying to get me beauty sleep before getting back in the pits to keep this boat afloat. And tells those airdales to land those planes more quieter, too!"
😊😊😊
LEST WE FORGET
Bob. Australia.
Thank you for your service
ОтветитьMy favourite actor as the narrator
ОтветитьExcellent film. GOD bless them all. GOD gave these valiant men the victory over the forces of evil.

Germany and Japan only seriously had about 2 years to finish what they started. They didn't. They never could have. Victorian mindsets a century out of date in the mid 1900s. They should have given up then. Such a stupid thing to do. And if they had both got their ways and won everything, they would have fought each other and destroyed themselves in M.A.D. Both their plans were degenerate national suicides, where they would never have won, even if they had 'won'.
ОтветитьMy Dad was a mechanic on the Ranger , his brother a radioman on the Yorktown . My Dad never spoke of anything of that time , too traumatic I guess . My 23 year old Uncle was shot down over Guam June 12 , 1944 , and never found to this day. Josh Gates a television star with a show called Expedition Unknown , was diving and found an Avenger with the bodies still in it , And yet our Government can't bring my Uncle home ....
ОтветитьSoundtrack mystery: the main theme was utilized in the 50s Richard Widmark film, "Hell and High Water" and Alfred Newman is credited as the sole composer.
But "The Fighting Lady" says Newman was only the musical director (a post he held for decades at Fox), while the actual composer is credited as David Buttolph. It's a stirring theme, but who in heck really wrote it??
That was excellent! Hollywood movies never show this reality. I felt like I was there. Thank you for posting this!
ОтветитьMy dad was in the Navy at Sicily and Normandy. Landed at Utah Beach. Men were killed around him but he was not wounded.
ОтветитьEssex Class Yorktown CV-10 is the Fighting Lady.
ОтветитьHow to capture the Soul?
ОтветитьCivilians put it all together!
ОтветитьFrom carrier to space, from space to carrier. Not into Westerns but it is Ok!

ОтветитьAmerican government propaganda film from WWII. Sad we lost some good boys. 😢
Let’s give some credit to the great brave Jap warriors defending their homeland. Now a trusted ally 🇯🇵
Today, 2023, China forgets that if it wasn't for the USA in WWII, they would be speaking Japanese in China right now. China, stay out of Taiwan , if you know what's good for you! God Bless the USA! 🇺🇸
ОтветитьMy Dad shot down three Jap zeros, sank a submarine and scored a direct hit on a battleship in WWII. The Chaplain called him a war hero at Ft. Rosecrans, San Diego…
ОтветитьTo all who were killed in combat, I salute you. Some of the bravest young men ever. And I am also so glad that our armed forces are integrated. Bless all of you.
ОтветитьThis video has left me speechless. If we had not fought back who knows? And who is the narrator?

Ответить"The Fighting Lady" was the nickname given to the USS Yorktown. Unfortunately, she was sunk at Midway in 1942. I see this film was made in 1944. It was either about the USS Yorktown before she sank or it's a wartime disguise to avoid naming an active service aircraft carrier.
ОтветитьOne quick glance at the forward hanger bay and...
