Russia doesn't have the recourses to send troops to all of the republics as they break away.

Maybe they should become part of another country. There were some tribes near Japan that could join Japan, for example. Maybe Ukraine could expand some. Putin certainly does not deserve to be in power. The lack of trade with the outside world after Putin made Russia into an enemy to most of the world certainly does not help the economies in Russia. If the territory broke away from Russia, it could get trade again.

The cost of each piece of Russian artillery destroyed by Ukraine does not matter. It cannot be replaced. That's the important factor. Nothing can be replaced and nothing is being replaced. It's just the enormous stock-piles that is producing the image that Russia is achieving results. The truth is this. Russia "walked in" to Ukraine 2 years ago. This is called SQUATTING. They have no succeeded ONE INCH since the initial day. They have just turned cities into rubble. Ukraine has had to build-up military equipment from a zero base to a 500 mile capability and this has just recently been achieved. Ukraine can now start to provide an effective "attack-mode."
Russia is so corrupt that Putin will win on as little as a 15% vote. That's the main point to remember.
The Russian population is so "hook-winked" into believing the Western World started the war etc, that no short-term discussion will change this view. You are wasting your time talking to the older Russian populaton. And they consider the Western World is entirely responsible for the decline in Russian living standards.
Inflation and poverty will have to get 10 times worse for it to have any effect on the decisions of Putin and his cronies. That's why this war will take a long time to come to a decision.
