Spoiler - "Because I'd rather eat poop" lol - really good beginning to a book - lol I'm sorry - but - (spoiler) what the heck is all the fuss over Tristan being her first kiss? Sammie's acting like he took her virginity... over react much?!
Dang! I'm kinda hating the dialogue between characters, it is so melodramatic, really awkward...
I really hate authors who write female characters so spineless - not able to control their emotions when a hot guy is beside her... what's up with that? And oh my gosh - the story moves so slow... but it's kinda funny - I feel really sorry for Sammie - I kinda feel that her character is really weak, insecure, and loveless... I think that is the only thing keeping me listening to this book - that and what the heck her sculpture is - lol The way this author writes Sam's character, it feels like she's bipolar... It's hard to get a read on what her personality truly is the way she is written... the same with Tristan. This story is so chaotic, (spoiler) they hook up as adults, yet they can't be together because of her best friend and his sister - that's just lame - it is written as if they are in grade school - not like they are all adults, with their own lives to lead...
I really question how much thought the author put into this book - the plot, the characters' reasoning, the characters' personalities - it's all over the place. The dialogue between Tristan and Sammie is so bizarre... really really hard to follow - going from one extreme to the other. The only word for this book is chaotic.
(spoiler) The drama between Tristan and Sammie and her best friend and her ex is so stupid... this felt so contrived and like it was written in one day - with no thought. There is no depth, no sense, no logic... I'm only listening to find out what the sculpture is, and if Sam makes it as an artist - lol - how lame am I? lol
The ending is so drawn out - and oh my gosh! so wordy... I just felt like: blah, blah, blah - get it over with already... I gotta be honest - I kinda didnt like this one, didn't feel it was really any good at all.

First of all for anyone interested in listening: This is a standalone novel with no cliffhanger.

I thought it was a very good story. A lot of authors now days write a book that’s 85% s*x scenes, trying to pass erotica off as romance… this book had just enough s*x to give the reader a feel for the chemistry between the two protagonists, but without overdoing it and overshadowing the story.

The author did a good job with character development, I liked the plot, even though it’s a cliche “falling for my besties brother” plot, the author made it work by focusing on the protagonists relationship, rather than focusing on the best friends relationship like many other authors do… that’s not needed to portray betrayal by lying to a best friend and this author proved that.

The two things I didn’t like, was going back and forth in timelines between present day and when they were younger… which is a personal preference, I concede, but it felt a little jarring at times and I would lose track of what timeline we were in. A prologue or 1-2 flashbacks is one thing, but I feel like it was overdone in this book. The other thing I didnt like, was the things the male characters say, how they spoke… men don’t talk like that, men don’t behave like that. If it were just Tristan, during moments of vulnerability with Sam, that’s fine, but all of the male characters talking and behaving uncharacteristically of men, makes the book feel like I’m watching a lifetime network movie, it feels unauthentic, fake, scripted, and throws off the story… it makes you hyper aware that it’s men being written by a woman. It’s nothing major, just a critique, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book.

I would definitely recommend this book.

I am impressed. I passed this book a few times but I thought I'd give it a try. Great job!

I disagree with some comments about her boyfriend, he is not bad guy but he isn't great one. He was pursuing her relentlessly but when he got her, career was more important, nothing wrong with wanting career but at least be sorry that you missed important event for your girlfriend. I believe text message was not great move by her part but with his behavior even earlier I honestly understood why she was angry enough to do that.

I read this a few years ago and I forgot how much I loved this story ❤

I'm not even an hour into this and I know Tristan is the better choice. Can't wait to see how it ends.
