Would it have been easier or simpler to use longer pipes?
ОтветитьGreetings from Malta.
Thank you so much for this informative video. My calculations are giving me 6 spans of 28" each. When they are folded these will give a drop of fabric of 14" approx. If I double the spans to achieve a fabric drop of 7" would this be feasible please? I would like to have your opinion before I proceed with the project. Thank you.
What about rainwater drainage , it doesn't seem to have a Gradient?
ОтветитьI have to say, this is very clever. We are in the process of erecting a pergola and this explains in great detail exactly how to build the necessary sail. I love the way you make mistakes, these would be easy to edit out of the video but where’s the fun in that? Not being US-based I can’t really use Sail-rite but I’ll certainly be using the methods!
Ответитьyou could always just lower your eye bolts on one side to let the water flow out :) very slight incline like 1-2% is all you need, you will also be hiding the previous eye bolt holes with the eye bolt going lower but this will increase your slope a lot more but predrill and space away from previous hole so you dont split your wood :) thank you for this walkthrough, love it and plan on buying and making something like this for our new deck thats directly in the blistering sun...composite decking gets HOT
ОтветитьIs there any reason the rope and pulley system couldn’t be mounted just UNDER the wires? Has anyone tried it? The cross beams of my pergola will be in the way of the line if I mount above the wires and the lines will rub on the wood. The only modification I can think of might be the location of the alpine butterfly knot, but maybe no modification is necessary.
ОтветитьGreat video with awesome information, but let's be real, this kind of project would be cost prohibitive for one-two time DIY canopy builders out there. The fact that you need a pretty heavy duty sewing machine (min $750) and Profilen PTFE thread made me scratch my head. It would be cool if Sailrite provided the service to build the canopy shade (added in the cost / parts calculator) so that folks could either source the parts from Sailrite or other places to assemble/complete their home project.
ОтветитьGo metric, for God's sake!
ОтветитьI'm planning a pergola build partially over a pool. Is it possible to plan this in somehow on the ground so there's no over-the-pool work?
ОтветитьVery educational and detailed. Great resource. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI just finished constructing this exact canopy in my backyard to the specifications shown in the video. The end product looks very professional and is made with high quality materials. The procedure in the video was accurate too. That said, the project was not as easy as the video makes it out to be. I consider myself a pretty handy person (I built the wood pergola on which the canopy is mounted, for example) and I found this project to be tedious, time consuming, and difficult. I am very very happy with the end result and I highly recommend it to others. But please go into this realizing that it will be many hours of frustrating hard work.
ОтветитьFor those that have these, how do they do in wind. Trying to decide between these and a regular sail shade.
ОтветитьNot a good idea the birds will shit all over the canopy
ОтветитьХуйня какая то
ОтветитьThat looks like a lot of work for something that could be destroyed in no time
Ответитьjust cover the top with a tarp from Harbor Freight tools. Cheap and fast. lol
ОтветитьBrilliant video! My pergola is small so this project would be far less daunting that the three-panel beauty. Your instructions are clear, concise, & easy to follow. Bravo! Thank you - enormously!
ОтветитьWhat kind of sewing machine is that?
ОтветитьA great walk-through. Any chance some diagram of the pulley system is published somewhere to better understand the operation of it as a whole?
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you.
Have you made a video for constructing the pergola itself?
cool
ОтветитьI believe his mustache is made from the same fabric of the canopy
Ответитьgreat job!
ОтветитьGenio saludos 🇦🇷
ОтветитьExellent 😍
ОтветитьYou guys have the BEST tutorials!
ОтветитьAfter watching this VERY detailed video I am (maybe) two steps from final installation. I am quite the "detective" and researched every single item needed to make my wire hung canopy. Bit by bit, piece by piece I got the best deals on fabric, wire cable and clamps, stainless steel turnbuckles, caribiners, pad eyes, etc. Hours spent measuring, sewing, and only occasional cursing! I was not about to abandon this project and saw it through til the end. I'm beaming with pride and will share a picture to show how it turned out.
ОтветитьExcellent, comprehensive video, thank you.
One question: he mentions if we don’t want a pulley system we can use something else. Did he say some sort of webbing? Do you have a photo or video tutorial for that, please?
Many thanks. 👍
Awesome tutorial video.
ОтветитьHighly comprehensive video. Thanks for the hard work!
ОтветитьToo long. Boring. Use less words.
ОтветитьThose cabinets are beauties!
ОтветитьExcellent video. Thanks
ОтветитьWonderful video
ОтветитьReally Awesome 👍 Love from India ❤️
ОтветитьI love the princess pencil. Great video. 👍🏼
ОтветитьExcelent instructor!
ОтветитьWhen I bought my Salerite LSZ1 sewing machine a few weeks ago I bought it just to make a motorcycle seat and some miscellaneous things for that. I had no idea I could do all this stuff. Now I have a list of things to do with this machine (which is an outstanding workhorse by the way); The Pergola shades, awnings for the home, covers for grills etc. What a great machine and such great tutorials!!!
ОтветитьGreat idea but there are much easier and simpler ways to do this.
ОтветитьI'm actually wanting to install a full canopy that covers in one piece - not multiple pieces. My reasoning is - I don't want partial sun coming through and I would like to be able to sit under the canopy in the rain.
ОтветитьI love the Canopy, for water drainage, could you not offset the cabling so the panels are higher on one side than the other?
ОтветитьMy husband and I are having a pergola built so I’m really enjoying this. But my favorite part by far is boys being men👏🏻❤️👍🏻
ОтветитьWould PVC work instead of conduit?
ОтветитьHow can I install one on a vinyl pergola?
