The idea of getting a house in FL Keys sounds so beautiful yet terrifying all at the same time!

Personally, I wouldn’t want to be far away… so I would pass on that house. But it’s beautiful!

As someone that has their laundry room on the second floor make sure you get a really good oversized pan to go under the washer. We have had a brand new washer go bad on us and flood the ceiling of our garage.( TWICE!)

Honestly, searching for a house myself I find that the most important thing to consider is the location, because this is somenthing you cannot change. You will be stuck with it. Everything else is changeable, even if it is a lot of work. And hearing all the plans you listed, there are a lot of stuff to do.

Find out about insurance first. It’s got really hard to get house insured in coastal Florida, and your mortgage company will demand you have insurance. If you don’t get your own, they’ll impose their insurance on your house, which is expensive and insure the building in case of loss, but not your renovations or personal property. Choose wisely.

It’s the random pulling out Cheerios while driving for me 😂. The perfect snack for a road trip.

The first house has so much potential. Even if you decided to make it a vacation home or short term rental. I know you mentioned the location not the best so something to consider. The second home location seemed better. The first home so many ways you can utilize the space.

Two words: Flood Insurance. Talk to an insurance expert, perhaps the better insurance rate would be a deal breaker. Good Luck.
