Rob, I had the same with my old Renault master, the handbrake arm doesn’t return as the shaft gets corroded and seizes in the calliper body.
Easy job to remove calliper arm, piston and shaft, brush off grease up, stick back together and bleed up.
I bought some new cheap replacement callipers on eBay originally, fitted them and it failed mot on handbrake efficiency, got another new set (from same seller) and it failed again, rebuilt the originals and it passed fine. There was something not right with the shaft to piston mechanism in the new ones, not enough piston movement to arm movement.

That's a bargain. I bought one last month same age 45k miles lower spec design model and paid 6k for it. I wish I'd have known this was coming up. Also a very underated car, drives nice and smooth.

Cracking cars these Astra J’s. I had a 2ltr SRI and it shifted.

Not sure if you’ve noticed, although I’m sure you have but the headlights are odd. The elite light has a chrome insert inside, whereas the active one doesn’t.

There really is a crazy amount of work involved in rebuilding the front end. In the old days it was just a simple bolt on bumper with screw in number plate topped with a bolt or screw in one or two piece grill. Simples!

Did you try Partsbuster for the grill, there is also a vauxcentre off the shelf used parts place in harold hill off of the A12

Wow 🤩 bargain very cheap car for someone - I can’t believe it was £173 for couple of pieces of plastic it is quite bad the dealers mark up on those I would imagine that it’s a part that can easily be damaged too, and on the other side the car shopping centre gave you the headlights absolutely lovely of them. the car turned out perfect as always guys and I’ve finally caught up with your vids after being on holidays for 3 weeks x

My Movano has got the same problem as I only use the van 2 days a month for my business, same repair needed, Caliper, disc, pads and both hb cables. Your truck is well looked after just like my van.

A cracking collection of videos on a great little car - as you guys said from the start this was going to be a really nice motor when done, great spec & lovely low miles. Getting a bargain from Copart is an achievement in itself these days! 4.5K will be a bargain for a nice looking 2015 car with low miles that should have years of life left in it - should think it wil get snapped up! Enjoyed the rebuild video's on this project great to see you guys rebuild a car to such high standards- look forward to the next one!
