I know I'm a Philistine, but I don't understand white gold for watches. It looks like stainless steel, but is very soft and fragile, and wears quickly, and of course, is ridiculously expensive.
Yes, I know that gold feels a little different, but is that worth an extra $10,000? Nope.

Additionally, the current price of one ounce of gold is about $1,900. Is there a whole ounce of gold in a watch? Maybe, maybe not, but the cost of the gold doesn't justify the 5 figure increase in price.

I can literally find that same styling of watch from either seiko, citizen or even a micro brand. Even though it may be patek's cheapest watch, people are still paying more money for the name rather than the watch itself. Great looking watch, but can't justify the price tag.

Value measurement should be based on resale value. In this case retail price Rolex is very strong from the financial sense which is what value is about. Unfortunately good value usually is very expensive for other watches those that one could say when stretching is like an investment. What one passes as good value like GS has poor resale value so should not be associated with value but some other measure such as finishing quality for its retail price.

What’s a good poor man version?

If a person is buying expensive watches, he should go for gold or platinum. Stupid people would buy stainless steel watches for high price because their is zero value in those steel.

Chopard XPS models are a very nice alternative, especially considering the price.

The strap makes a vast difference to the looks of a watch, and that grey leather one is a huge improvement over the black crocodile skin one! Other than that, the view of the movement is REALLY nice, the quality really shows there, but otherwise, the watch looks very much like a Seiko to me. Certainly wouldn't be wanting to pay Patek prices for a watch like that!

Patek is just becoming so irrelevant, they've been surpassed in finishing quality and they seem unable to adapt to the evolution of the watch world. I can't think of a single interesting watch they've released in the last ten years, aside from the Tiffy Nautilus which is really just a new color of a decades old watch. Vacheron does Patek better than Patek these days. The 222, the Cornes de Vach, the Overseas - instant classics.

It is too big, I do not like the decoration around the bezel and the gray color is not to my liking. For that kind of money it should be perfect.

So it is at most a $5000 watch (mostly for the gold) and the extra $26,000 is for the Patek logo.

Paket has to be the most overpriced brands in a field of very overpriced competitors. It appears that Paket has simply jacket up the price again and again because folks will pay more and more for it, and the more expensive, the "better" the watch is. JLC, Lange, Vacheron and Briguet have nothing to feel ashamed about in relation to Paket either in quality and history.
