How can Peter Atkins use the words "truth" or "evil"? Those words presuppose a standard that includes untruth and good but how can there be a standard when there is no purpose or value?

Rising from the dead simply means becoming enlightened. If people understood that the Bible is METAPHYSICAL, then they would understand it and that science and religion are the same thing, but in different language.

Perhaps we need two planets; one with atheists and the other with religious believers. One of fact and one of belief.

I have tried to give Peter the benefit of the doubt as best as I can, as a Christian, and take on board his arguments. Not least as he is in enemy territory as it were. Yet he began by saying that “asking what the purpose of the universe is” is a stupid question. Then states “the greatest question of all is why the universe exists.” Is not asking the reason for existence the same as asking what is the purpose? I wonder if he would say “I meant to say how is it possible that it exists.” It strikes me that even if he could answer how it is possible, he would then feel it unnecessary to ask what is it all for?
Surely that is the most important question and the next logical step if one did discover how it came to be?

Its Simple, Atkins born in a fraction of the fabric of the world and time, DISCOVERS what is and has been already there and defines it by his own set of understanding of the current time resources. And thinking this is all it, and ALL is and will always be more than we can comprehend and much less what we idealized.

A lot of people just love how awful Atkins is and are just honored to believe the shame thing as John. Appeal to emotion, appeal to incredulity and special pleading. 99% of the arguments to explain belief in God are guilty of one of these fallacy’s. The truth is if God was a real thing, there would be no need for arguments let alone fallacious arguments to justify one’s belief in the God, there would be evidence and if God had wanted to make it so, we could live in a universe that was very clearly made by a God, that very clearly wanted each one of us to love him/her, we most certainly do not live in that universe, so God either doesn’t exist, doesn’t want some people to know he exists or doesn’t care if people know he exists, whatever the case it’s not the atheist who is at fault, it would be Gods problem. And even this would just get to the deism god the God assert by the abrahamic religions has been explained out of existence that God doesn’t fit with what we know about our universe. There are far too many contradictions and mistakes in all the texts to be anything more than the collection of books drafted up by middle age humans. Nothing is a mystery when you read the books through that Lens.

Although we have taken a long path as soul and ultimate answer seeker, we deviate from everything in favor if the assumed reality and uktimate truth spearheded by science and intellectual, actually evrything is that simple, that God sacrificed everything for us that we as his sons are also expected to do so. It is in unconditional love for our fellows and full trust in Him that we cand find uktimate hope, real justice, and eternal life. All we need to do is extend our faith to him beyond reasons
