Thanks! The manual in the box doesn't explain almost anything... I'll still need to research to get better definitions of exactly what some of the settings do.

1. Something that's really bugging me is that when shooting stills, the screens don't give an accurate preview of what the image will look like when the picture is taken... It'll look properly exposed on the LCD or viewfinder, but when I take the picture, it could be completely over or underexposed. Sometimes, the screen even darkens after acquiring focus, and then the photo comes out blown out. Is this normal?

I haven't used a modern mirrorless camera that doesn't give you a live preview of what your image will look like... It's one if the main reasons why people are switching to mirrorless from DSLRs in the first place.

I know I can use the meter on the side to gauge exposure, but it seems slow to react to my changes and meters can get confused depending on what you're focusing on and the metering mode your using.

2. It doesn't auto ISO when shooting in MANUAL mode... it just keeps at ISO 100 and doesn't show the ISO on the screen. I've taken test shots that are very under exposed with auto ISO and then manually set the ISO to 100, and the images were exactly the same... It never even tried to bump up the ISO to compensate. I took shots where it needed ISO 400 or 800 to be properly exposed... and the meter on the LCD knew it! The camera just doesn't adjust the ISO.

I bought one 3 days ago and can say its a piece of junk. I own several bridge cameras and can tell you the auto focus can get a good shot after 1000 mm.

Greetings, I have a Nikon Coolpix P1000 and it gives me this error when I turn it on. THE CAMERA WILL SHUT OFF TO PREVENT IT FROM OVERHEATING. I would appreciate information on how to solve this problem, since it does not let me do anything. Thank you Jose Antonio

What I originally was looking for was how to get into the main menu because I needed to change my time and couldn't figure out how to get there. When you were talking about the eye sensor I was able to see how to get there. And bonus for me was being able to turn off the toggle for the eye sensor. I have been taking night shots in the cold and using a heater on my lens so it doesn't fog up, but the eye sensor was fogging up so it would shut off the screen. Now that I can turn that toggle off that should solve the problem.

Just bought the P1000 - in full Manual mode using LED screen (not viewfinder) when I adjust the aperture or shutter speed there is no change on the display, although M exposure preview is on. Is there a way to see if you have the right exposure before taking a photo?
