I am 24....Struggling with discipline, putting the needed work in even when I know how much behind in life I am... I needed to hear this. But I don't know how much I can follow through this, but I will try until I succeed.
ОтветитьWho is Stoic?
ОтветитьWE ALL NEED TO HEAR THAT NO MATTER YOUR AGE!!!
ОтветитьGreat 👍
ОтветитьTo start your day like Marcus Aurelius, you need to follow this advice, and then after you're done, you need to plot the brutal and bloody invasion of multiple foreign nations, with the intent of looting all their wealth and subjugating them. Aurelius is not actually a good role model.
ОтветитьThese meditations are full of wisdom, it would've been great to hear some of this wisdom from the adults around me growing up. I'm in my 60s now and having stumbled upon this channel I hope it's not too late for me to use some of his wisdom and apply it into my life.
ОтветитьI once hear a Native American say that his family, almost daily, would say “it’s a good day to die” almost daily to each other. It almost replaced the phrase, I love you. If you’re living your life fully, the day you die doesn’t matter nearly as much as how you lived.
ОтветитьWow
ОтветитьCan you combat machiavelianism with stoicism?
ОтветитьWhen I was 19 years old all I wanted to do was rebel. Fight, fuck and cause mischief.😂
ОтветитьAnd every 51 year old too
ОтветитьWhy I start my day like a motherfucker. Fuck following others
Ответитьlove your work.
ОтветитьSounds great. But: ive worked my butt off for years to a point where my body aches so much from it i can barely sleep at night due to the pain. The pain comes at night and only seems to go about 5 minutes before my alarm goes off. Not much anyone can say can motivate me into thinking that its a really a good idea to get up and launch myself into another day with alacrity.
ОтветитьSo you are telling us to live mechanically, like a machine, it's ridiculous
ОтветитьIndependently i used to meditate on death for hours, as if I'd accomplished everything and was completely at peace ready to go. Made a big difference. I accomplished my main goal in life 10 years ahead of schedule. Not only from that, but from being lost in what I loved. I paid for overindulgence in work many times too, but it was worth it.
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьThat first block quote. Wow.
Hearing it for the first time at 30. Wishing I heard it younger.
From the stoics' perspective, which shift is better, day shift, night shift, or graveyard shift?
ОтветитьI am Catholic and I feel like some of the Stoic teachings may help me to become a better person
ОтветитьI'm in the process of starting a new project/new business. I have hit a point where I am scared to move forward because I might fail, or it might be "too" hard to learn new skills. Can you please give me some advice?
ОтветитьThe inspiration for my content! And for my life:P
ОтветитьMarcus Aurelius: "The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it."
ОтветитьI am having a huge identity crisis and I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about my father passing, but I needed this so much I'm so happy I found this it helps clear up a lot
ОтветитьPonytail
ОтветитьThat’s not how to pronounce “Aurelius” 😁
ОтветитьCan you make a video covering Marcus aurelius' Drug use? or lack of drug use? Thanks
ОтветитьI read your book Ego is the enemy. I Love your book and I love you too.
This Book literally changed my perspective..
This is the first video I'm watching in 2024.
ОтветитьThank you for this Beautiful video
ОтветитьGreat channel!
Ответить"the fear of being left behind, will leave you behind"
Mine!
I agree with having gratitude and being present in the moment, as you never know when your last day is.
This is a bible verse that also reflects the importance of reminding your self about time.
“Show me, LORD, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is." Psalm 39:4
Just last week i read that same passage to a friend, where together, this is needed wisdom.
ОтветитьGG Borders!
ОтветитьWhat book did you read from in the beginning of this video
Ответить❤
ОтветитьMe huddled under the blanket watching this 👁👄👁
ОтветитьTo the worthwhile person seeing this, your dream is not dead. Don’t allow the past and current pains and hurts stop and define you. You’re more than a conqueror. Rise up and put yourself together. Keep pushing your future depends on it. I wish you all the best in life .!!
Ответить"The Magic you seek is in the work you are avoiding" Is my go-to thought when I don't feel like doing anything. Simple and to the point - replace the word Magic with what it is you want.
ОтветитьI know this book was around when I was 18 obviously, but I had no one, not my parents, no teacher in my life ever introduced Meditations to me. We did have a philosophy class in High School, but the word around campus was that you were a pansy if you took that class. Well, I even asked my Dad about philosophy and all he said to me was, "There is "some" good that can be had by taking such a class, but truth is, you need more help with mathematics." That was that. Although mathematics was never my strong suit, then or now. I could have used the introduction to Stoicism and philosophy a lot more. It's my fault for not researching this when I was younger. As a husband, and father it would have certainly helped. Thank you for putting this out there. It is my hope that my grandchildren will see these videos and books, (Yes I've introduced them to you and your mission), and that it will help prepare them for life better.
ОтветитьLast decent channel for stoicism.. they’re all mindless faceless ai now
Ответитьgreat video
ОтветитьI’m a Stoic and I didn’t even know it. 😎
I have always loved Marcus Aurelius. 💙
Thank you for sharing your journey. I end up coming back to this more and more the older I get
ОтветитьWhich translation would you recommend?
Ответитьtop videos
ОтветитьWow, this simplifies Stoicism in such a relatable way!
ОтветитьWhat's your favorite quote from Stoicism?
Also, are there Stoic teachings you'd like us to deal with? Do you have a particular problem you'd like to ask about? Leave it in the comments and we may address it in a future video!
