Rachelle Ann Go began as a pop star in the Philippines and moved on to musical theater with a little coaxing from the original Kim herself, Lea Salonga who played the title role in Miss Saigon in 1989 at the West End and then, on Broadway. Rachelle played the lead bar girl, Gigi van Trahn at the West End revival of the musical in 2014 and played Fantine in Les Miserables in 2015 also in the UK. Rachelle later played the role of Eliza Schuyler in the West End production of Hamilton from 2017-19. Lea Salonga continues to do solo concerts internationally and performs on Broadway during theater seaon.

The role of RACEHLLE IS GIGI which should be a WELL EXPERIENCED PROSTITUTE than KIM which is supposed to be a 16 year old Newbie…. Rachelle performed 25 years thereafter the original MS Saigon.

Thus the original KIM ( Lawrence OLIVIer and Tony awardee ) LEA was the inspiration of RAchelle. They performed here in the 25th anniversary in Broadway

The happiness at the end is like a mother to her daughter's success!

Trivia: Rachel used to look up to/idolized Lea. She used to be a belter and auditioned for the role of Kim in Miss Saigon but she was not accepted at first because of her diction. She continued rehearsing and finally, convinced by Lea, she "is" reaping what she'd sown for the longest time!

Lea Salonga is the first Asian to win a Tony Award and the singing voice of both Princess Jasmine and Mulan. If that's not talent, then I don't know what is. 😊

I was just lucky to watched Ms Lea Salonga in Les Miserables/Ms Saigon in NY.,there were tears in our face the moment she started singing ..that was my best memories of stage music till to date..We ❤ you LEA SALONGA!!

Lea is such a gem. I got the chance to see her in Miss Saigon in the Philippines in year 2000 and what a performance. Hope I could see her perform again live, even on concerts.

You have to commend how healthy their techniques are. If you're going to sing 8 shows a week, that's how one should sing. These two can belt out those high notes especially Rachell Ann Go who can go supersonic with her whistle note, but they chose the healthy way to sing and that helps in preserving their voices.

In this Siilver Anniversary tribute show, Lea and Rachelle were singing counterpoint assuming two different characters, both working as competing prostitutes in a bar but agreeing on how their American clients can get them out of Saigon. Rachele was given the license to have her "pop" music training come out JUST for this show. Lea was invited back for this show to sing her original role in the musical M8ss Saigon, being the original leading lady.

Watched Miss Saigon in the Phils year 2000 and Lea was really young then and was really good, thats 23 years ago and shes still good❤

Lea has the training in musicale, Rachelle has none...so you can't compare them...Lea is there, irreplaceable...but Rachelle has her own vocal power...she won't be able to win a singing contest if she does'nt have that power vocals too.
