Real question:

What happens if I park the car in an empty garage and then another comes in after me, when I reverse will the park assistant recognise the car on the side that might be too close to it and not bump it
Or does it reverse only with the memory despite a new object being present?

Last month, I test-drove the BMW iX1, specifically focusing on its 50-meter reverse memory assistance system. Unfortunately, I accidentally collided with a pillar at the rear. The dealer rudely demanded compensation for the repair. When I raised my concerns, they couldn't provide specific answers. Here are the issues:

1. The salesperson did not personally demonstrate the operation; instead, she had me sit in the driver's seat while instructing me from the back seat on how to operate it.

2. They deactivated the collision warning system without prior notification, claiming they didn't want to scare the customer. I was even not advised there's such system in advance.

3. They did not explain that the memory track would become invalid if the reverse speed exceeded a certain limit.

4. There was no preventive insurance for test car itself, putting all the test-drive risk on customers.

5. They didn't provide warnings or inform under what conditions the vehicle might collide with objects in the rear.

Despite unclear accident causes, the dealer insisted that I must agree to their estimated repair costs and settle the payment before commencing repairs. They even claimed any potential loss of business before the repair completion might charge to the customer.

The dealer is located in Hsinchu, Taiwan. I'm not sure if you can provide guidance or assistance in this matter. I've reflected this matter to head agent here, but there's no response and the matter come back to the local dealer again.

I have to back into my garage or the driver side would be against the wall and can’t get out. My wife gets scared to pull it out straight because it’s very close to the garage doors. It would be nice if it copied my reverse and then my wife can use this to go forward with memory without hitting everything.

Here’s a real question, what if I need it to back up a certain direction. If there’s an exit to the left not right the car seems to reverse a random direction. Do I have control over which way I need the back up to go

The problem with the parking assistant is that the steering feature dry-steer the vehicle nearly all the time, it is not very pleasant to hear the distressing sound of your steering mechanism screaming for life when it does it. I hope the related department can do maybe something about it, like planning manoeuvre during the steering as well.

Well!!......Wanna make your reverse assist and other safety features completely flawless???? Then come to Bangladesh and drive it in small roads (Which is called goli in Bangladesh ). Interesting fact is: These roads are very small in width but still two cars can pass each other. If your drive your BMW here.....I am sure the software of your cars will become flawless in other countries!!!

REAL QUESTION BMW: Is there a way to update the navagation on a 2014? I'm constantly driving through fields and forests on a HW that has been there for years. Some whole towns don't even show up. For Example HW 407, in Brooklin, Ontario Canada. Both the HW east of there and that whole town does not exist. (I'm 'keeping' this car, X135iM, most powerful SUV in my price range, then and now.(paid)) (ran awesome at CTMP in single lane 'parade' lap...that was no 'parade' lap :-D and I'm still Smiling) If there was only an X1, Legit 'M' .. and 'CS' minimal n/s55...
