Can I pan fry the veggies instead of deep frying them? Will the base of the dish still be yummy?

I wonder if this freezes well after cooked ?

If you deep fry the veggies they will releases their oil in the Moussaka until the top of the it and it will be flooded with oil .it happened to me

Having worked in Chicago for many years, I had the opportunity to eat at some of the best Greek restaurants in the US. Moussaka was one of my favorites. I live near Knoxville Tennessee now, and love it here -- except for the lack of great Greek restaurants. Maybe someday, someone will open one here.

I have made your moussaka recipe a few times already and it's always loved by family and friends. I must admit, we prefer the fried veggies over the baked method. The baked veg in moussaka still taste good but this recipe of moussaka with fried vegetable tastes so much better. The best moussaka ever, bar none.

I had no idea how different the Romanian "musaca" is from the Greek version. I can't wait to try the real deal. Actually, I think I'll go buy the ingredients right now

Don't think I have ever had Moussaka made with beef instead of ground lamb. I live on Vancouver Island, Canada. Is the beef more traditional ??

Stop misleading people! Authentic moussaka NEVER has zucchini ONLY aubergines! Another matter if some use zucchini too.

I believe Greek moussaka is national food of Greece, it is always present in any occasion in our ship hehe as per captain request.

Cinnamon and cloves... as good combination as ginger and garlic is.

I'msure your food tsates amazing, but I was taught a becamel was cooked when you can run a stripe through the back of a ladle......Escoffier.
