Great discussion! Thanks to both of you! I just wanted to comment that the translation that was shown when discussing philppians 2 (the nlt i believe) is not very accurate. It adds an interpretive spin that is not in the Greek text or in literal translations. For example, "work out your salvation..." vs "Work hard to show the results of your salvation..." (Nlt). If we're discussing theology, i think it's important to use more literal translations otherwise we might assert that the Bible says certain things when it doesn't or is ambiguous.

Before Christ, there were exceptions for salvation because they did not see him in his image and deed, he went down to hell and saved most of the sinners, in the new testament, there are no exceptions because he came and gave himself on the cross for all our sins, if we do not return to the original faith, which is Eastern Orthodox, there is little chance that I will give God mercy! Because the Eastern Orthodox Church, its foundations are his resurrection and his eyewitnesses who are the apostles.

The question is, if the Ecumenical Patriarch and Pope do reach an agreement of reconciliation, would the eastern orthodox churches that oppose it technically become protestant?

He made a comment about Luther being connected to Biel- he actually wrote against the scholastics right before his 95 thesis… And in here he is explicitly pushing back against the philosophy of Biel which leads to a Soteriology of semi-Pelagianism. . The reformers were wanting to go back to the realism of Thomistic Augustinianism

I left Islam a decade ago and went through Atheist rage, now I'm Agnostic cause I can't be arrogant to discount God. However lately I have been drawn to Jesus Christ and I want to know more about Orthodoxy. It is the only denomination that stayed consistent with the teachings of Christ.

I have some wonderful, dear protestant neighbors. They are wonderful people and I think the world of them. Their theology doesn't work for me (and that's not a dig at them). Bottom line, I appreciate dialog and bringing believers together.
