Snow in July, and we are going to believe to global warming. 😂😂😂
ОтветитьYou should put the hurricane clamp down on that roof. Sits very high. Easy to add now. I don't think those uplift screws will hold it . In 150mph or mega storms coming wrap metal around truss . All the way to concrete. Maybe
ОтветитьWouldn’t a multigenerational home be built out of multigenerational materials? … concrete?
ОтветитьLove the use of that double sided tape - they should use that more frequently when working with these membranes.
ОтветитьThanks Stephen. Thanks Huber.
ОтветитьThey must not have been able to find a hard hat big enough for Steve's big ol head during the crane work lol
ОтветитьI get the budgetary constraints but what would be the cost addition for radiant floor heating
ОтветитьSteve’s hair looks really cool in this episode.
ОтветитьI’m about to put a roof on a remodel. Hope you get to the roofing next video!
ОтветитьWhy American lamber have rounded edges?
ОтветитьLove the energy heal and gable end truss technique. appreciate the lesson Steve! I will also look in to the FastenMaster truss bracing.
ОтветитьThose roofing details were great ! I especially liked the between truss braces to keep the spacing without taking time consuming measurements. And all those air barrier items - genius.
ОтветитьIm confused why you have the siga as your top barrier, why not use the zip on the roof as your top layer?
Does that mean the attic space isnt going to a part of the conditioned space?
Cheers
Leveling compound to get the slab perfectly flat? It seems like a better solution. Maybe it's cheaper from a labor and materials perspective to shim sleepers. Don't know.
ОтветитьWhere the heck is it snowing??? Its July.... Its not even snowing at 15,000 feet in Colorado today???
ОтветитьI noticed the zip tape is over the top of the liquid flash at the base where the zip meets the concrete. Its just different from what Ive seen Matt do. Is it best practice to have the tape under the liquid flash or doesnt matter?
Cheers

Ответитьwhy deviate from the previous patterns of putting the insulation at the roof deck?
ОтветитьYou're gonna have to lay all that kiln dried pressure treated lumber on twelve inch centers and now your threshold coming into the room is two and a quarter high i would pour self leveling a quarter inch out of level i wouldn't go through all that two grand versus a few hundred if not more. But it's for parents i understand
ОтветитьIts July, whats with all the white stuff :)
ОтветитьA commenter on another recent Build Show video mentioned another meaning for "truss uplift" where temperature and humidity differences between the top and bottom chords of a truss cause it to deform and it can cause the ceiling to lift up off of your interior walls, cracking drywall. Since this house is being built in Climate Zone 5 and is apparently going to have an unconditioned attic, won't this house be susceptible to this. Apparently that thick layer of fluffy stuff that is going to be blown into the attic will keep the bottom chord warm while the top chord will be exposed to frigid temperatures. Older houses have less attic insulation so it wasn't a problem. Seems like another reason to go with a conditioned attic with exterior roof insulation. Maybe they can have a show where they talk about mitigating this type of truss uplift. Some have said a site cut rafter type roof does not have this problem, another reason older homes don't have this problem.
Ответитьthose 6" screws are going to Jack S#@t in a hurricane, you need at least 12kN MiTEK or Pyrda cyclone straps over each truss down to a stud.
