I keep seeing theories and retrospective videos that call Liquid the recessive inferior twin… I’m so glad someone finally quoted it correctly and even used the clip Occelot admits Solid Snake was the inferior clone, despite having dominant genes…

Too many people drank the Liquid Snake Kool-aid and believed Liquid about his inferiority, he said it so believably that like, obviously you’re gonna buy into his self deprecating complex and people who see him as the underdog are gonna aggrandize him and want him back as a recurring villain.

But all of that makes what Occelot says on the phone to Solidus at the the end worthless.
Why would Occelot tell Solidus the Inferior clone won, and you’re the best of BOTH worlds “Mr. President…” if he was just blowing smoke up Solidus’ ass- he’s gonna tell Solidus HE was the superior clone.

Between Solid and Liquid Snake, their duality is that of "The Fool", Solid Snake, the one who starts with nothing but has potential if fostered correctly vs "The Magician" Liquid Snake, the one with great ennate talent but is ultimately brought to heel by their out of control emotions.

Though both cards have a large focus of manipulation. With Solid Snake being led astray by narrative outside forces who wish to see things play out as they saw fit. Eradicating anyone who stood in the way of their idea of the greater good.

While Liquid was manipulated emotionally by having the nature of his existence carefully worded to him in a way that would cause an intentional misunderstanding and make him want to lash out at the people he hated the most.

The moment Ocelot said to Venom, "..he is not your clone.." what tha...?

And at the ending of MGSV..oOOooo..yeerpp..totally not yours..

I love liquid as a villain. He was just so iconic and I really liked how he was so persistent in not losing that he possessed the son of a medium. I love the grit and will of liquid. I also love how opposite solid is, he wasn’t like liquid, if he were solid’s only reason for not falling the same fate as liquid is due to him not holding the same feelings towards big boss and his twins, only seeing it as a job and not a way of proving himself to the world that he is superior. Solid doesn’t do it for himself, he does it for others. He saved Meryl and didn’t want to take the chance of killing Frank jager when he was aiming his stinger at liquid. Plus he saved Olga gerlukovich which came into his favour. It was liquid against the world and it was solid amd friends against the ODDS

Cam Clarke does such a good job as Liquid in MGS1, almost every line he has is memorable. I can't help but recite his lines when watching the cutscenes.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of meeting the va of Liquid Snake and asked him if Liquid’s life would have been different if he knew the whole story. He gave me a narrative story that I don’t entirely remember but the gist of it was that Liquid was so focused on his identity as his father’s clone that he never thought of becoming his own person. Unlike Solid, Liquid couldn’t break free of this identity crisis. Also, that apparently kept him up all night 😅

It's my head cannon that the psychological conditioning Ocelot went under was actually a way to harness a rudimentary form of his father's abilities, and he was able to directly channel Liquid through his body in a more controlled form than with the arm, thus making them sort of a single being until Liquid got literally punched out of Ocelot by Snake. I dunno, I never really liked the "Ocelot was just pretending" explanation.

Here’s a fair question. If the Les enfant terrible project managed to create to a clone of big boss that had all his superior traits AND an exact clone genetic clone, why was the project deemed a failure? If it gave the patriots exactly what they wanted.

In the post-credits sequence of Metal Gear Solid, Ocelot says, to Solidus, "In the very end, the inferior one was the winner, after all." Was he speaking hyoerbolically, or literally? I was under the impression that he was speaking literally -- that is to say that Solid Snake for the recessive genes.

I love how liquid got his time to shine in MGS5. You can tell Kojima was trying to do right by him seeing as he always regretted killing him off so early. I’d love a game where you play as liquid leading up to Shadow Moses.

Kojima definitely did his story a disservice by killing off Liquid so early to the story.

That reminds me in mgsv kaz and ocelot did do a leb test to see if Eli is the son or not. The results were negative. First i thought it's just they're covering the truth to make venom feel better, but now it came to me. Of course the result would be negative. Venom was never Big "John" Boss. Liquid really never met his father.

Weird how when mentioning Liquids design you compare him to the boss but not to Eva, his “mother” and whom he has more visual similarities with.

Ocelot has the same coat too , just tells you who admires Big Boss.

Theres so many 80s rock band referances I bet Hideo Kojima originally wanted to call Liquid "White Snake" like the band in MGSV. Probably changed his mind due to legal stuff, or wanted to leave it more ambiguous, changing it to White Mamba

if MGSV had it's final mission as intended Liquid would of been the final boss of 3/5 numbered titles in a way (yes yes Liquid Ocelot is weird and not REALLY him but mentally kinda still is) and only not present at all in 3.

Granted Peace Walker is kinda the real MGS5 and V is actually 6 still he's around more than almost anyone.

And his entire motivation can be summed up as "I met Dad once and he was so much better than me so now I need to dedicate my entire life to proving im better than him"

As an Identical Twin myself, seeing Liquid and Solid constantly in conflict always makes me smile, as it’s actually quite realistic for Twins to be bastards to one another

The one thing i don't like about Liquid is he's set up as the series big bad, responsible for everything. And he just isn't. He dies in the first game he appears in, and his image is used as a smokescreen for the real mastermind, Ocelot. Behind the scene hes pulling all the strings, setting up other and walking away once hes done with everything and they get blamed for everything. Ocelot does what the Patriot try to do, but he does it in every game he's in, which is all of them.
