They don't have an explanation about what the mutts were because in the book it said that the mutts were tributes

yep Francis Lawrence will direct Catching Fire, I think he's good choice, he did movies like Water for Elephants and I am Legend.

totally agree, I've liked Gary's work since Pleasantville, such a same he isn't returning to Catching Fire but it think it had a lot to do with JLaw's contract for First Class, and Lionsgates anticipation to start the other installment. I'm hopeful for the sequel but like you, the Hunger Games was one of the few literary-to-film adaptations that didn't ruin the book for me, I hope Francis Lawrence can preserve a lot of what Gary started.

I found the movie okay. It was just the shaky camera that really pisses me off. Even though not everything was included, it was still acceptable imo.

You guys are being way too harsh. Yes, the movie didn't include every little detail in the book but it's still one of the most faithful adaptations I've seen. If the movie was in the hands of another director/writer, there would be a lot more missing and a lot more things for you to complain about. Gary did a fantastic job and I can't wait to see what he does with Catching Fire.

I've been sooo disappointed with the movie! For the budget they had they call those "special effects"? The shaky camera was extremely annoying, too many close-ups, the caracters not not sufficiently developed... many things from the story were left out... Gary, dear, you haven't captured the essence of the book. If I were S.Collins, I'd sue you for butchering the book...If anything I like in the movie that is the cast.

It a 2 hour and 30 min movie they try to put every in there but you should know they will have to rush a few thing and take a lot out. I think you should know that when you are reading book by yourself taking all the time you need for food, drinks, and bathroom breaks it will be differnt in the movie theaters then your home.

The fact that he stayed true to the book alone makes me respect him and him filming in my home state of north carolina is just icing. The movie was how i imagined it in the book. Cant wait for Catching Fire.

@triXter0612 I agree with you. But you have to keep in mind that they wanted to make an action movie too. An action movie is used to be shorter or around 2 hours. If it gets longer it will be hard to keep the action in it. And some people who havent red the book wouldnt think its as good as those who have red the book. Remember that Suzanne also made this movie, not just Gary.

If they had kept the camera steady, then it would show all of the blood. They wanted to keep it PG-13, because that's the age most of the fans are 13 and up. And you insulting him isn't going to make a damn difference at all. So get over yourself, this movie was phenomenal and realistic.

so, i think the reason the hunger games seemed rushed was because gary ross had to make a lot of cuts and shorten things, so, what if in the dvd release he put all he detail in and the cuts that made the movie seemed rushed. Im mean he could also put out the theater version but yeah. it might turn out to be like a 3 hour movie, but heck, id watch it.
