This is an excellent website Dave! I have one suggestion: adding a field to search by production date (or date range) would help those who might use the site for academic or research purposes. Just a thought!

Handmade means handheld! When even the colors themselves are created by hand, the fact that just about everything involved, from the paper to the woodblocks to the tools themselves, with such a literal “personal touch” being themselves PRINTED into their work at every level, one cannot help but be forced to take a subjective and studied approach

Your time is not wasted with properly photographing the Mokuhankan Collection. I have a giant computer screen (I am an art historian) and the highlight of my day is taking a good look at some of your pictures--beautifully photographed with every grain of the paper visible. Pure heaven.

What a beautiful textured paper and subjects! Also the 3d effect embossing the paper, so beautifully made!

I got a question for you David, you always said "take a picture of the prints" to store them digitally on the site. I was wondering why not use a scanner, the scanner can damage the piece? Thank you so much for your hard work. Stay safe!

Small piece of feedback on the site: I think that it should be possible to click the titles that show underneath the "pop-up display" photos in the related section. This would enable the user to quickly jump into the full page for items they are interested in, as they browse left and right through a gallery.

I hope to be able to visit your wonderful shop sometime. I stumbled upon your videos a couple of years ago when my own creative life was really low. I have enjoyed seeing these prints and learning how they were made. Hearing the description of how Mokuhankan came to be at the very end was very interesting.

The part about the book photography is so true. I've been in love with m.c.escher's block printing since I was young. When I was around 27 I was able to see his original prints at a show. They were so perfectly done I stared closely at multiple for 30 to 40 mins a piece. For how old they were, they still looked fresh and wet.

After the show I went home and looked through my book collection of his work and was shocked at how different they looked. Pieces that I stared at and studied in person were so dull and never jumped out in the book.

As an artist living in a digital world these days, I always try to encourage people to come see my work in person. Prints and versions on a computer will never portray the quality of color and contrast in person.

Aside from this channel, I have no interest in this subject, but there is something about David and how he describes everything, and tells stories, that really gets me. I love watching this channel. It blows my mind that this sort of thing can even be achieved to the levels it has been. Its ridiculous.

David, I respectfully propose for your consideration that any website that requires an instruction manual as detailed as this is not ergonomic or easy to use in any way. Yes, websites are all pretty much the same these days, but the benefit of that is a kind of universality which allows people to intuitively use the web. Also your choice to use pinch commands on parts of the website while also asking people to view it on a large screen pretty much pigeon holes your website into a narrow audience of not only people with macs or ipads, but people with macs who have a touch pad. It's all a bit absurd, I dare say. Some design choices like having the thumbnail and text below the thumbnail link to different things are downright confusing. There shouldn't be a learning curve to an every day activity as basic and commonplace as browsing a website in my opinion. Despite these criticisms which I send with the best intentions, I love your work and enjoy your videos. Your meaning of life video was very insightful and I enjoyed it very much.
