A tip my sister gave me for freshmen is this one which is simple.
Don’t take advanced classes in your freshman year, you will have enough time for that in your future years but your freshman year, you need to have very good grades in order to not ruin your GPA.

I was going to take all advanced/honors in freshman but now I will change my classes to the normal ones except the ones I know I’m an expert in (Biology, which you needed to have straight A’s all year in science, advanced history and advanced math)

Trust me on this, freshman is your base for your GPA, you don’t want to ruin it.
