How can I take color images with red, green, blue filters manually with the ASI AIR PLUS in PLAN MODE, or other MODEs? All I have is a filter holder where I can change the filters.
ОтветитьBinning works against you with this sensor. It's so noise free you don't really need it anyway. It barely needs cooling. You'd probably do better to increase gain to decrease noise and extend your exposure time to 300s for those dim DSO targets.
ОтветитьThis camera is very expinciv
ОтветитьWhy does ZWO include so many spacers for their cooled cameras for back focus but not on their planetary cameras like this one. If you shoot DSO with this camera do you have to purchase spacers? I have a Celestron C8. Thanks
ОтветитьHI there so can i take sharp deep sky images with this particular model or should i go with cooler one... because my budget was tight and i need also sharp images too...please suggest..
ОтветитьHave you by any chance compared this one to the Player One Uranus-C?
ОтветитьI can see some amount of walking noise in the final stacked images
ОтветитьI just bought this camera thinking the same thing, can I save money and make this doing "everything", including DSOs?
ОтветитьHi, Just 2 questions if you dont mind.... Do you think pairing the 585 with a Skywatcher 10" GOTO dob f/4.7 would be good?
and would this take better planetary images than the Canon 700D i am using now?
I'm trying to work out the difference between a 224mc or this, 585mc
ОтветитьI have this camera and have been using it for EAA with the Virtuoso 6 inch goto dob. It works well for me for stacking 4 or 8 second exposures in Sharpcap.
The FOV is obviously smaller than most full featured DSO cameras but then its half the price.
For galaxies its been awesome. Its just the right FOV for M51 and M101 for instance.
At the price point and for my purposes its great.
Not bad for a planetary cam
ОтветитьExcellent work
Ответить"versus"
Ответитьis this a better planetary camera than 224 mc?
ОтветитьHi Chris finally pushed the boat out treated myself to the ZWO585 from FLO, its specs look impressive for the money, I to could not warrant the expense of a tec camera but sure I'd be imaging on cooler nights.(I'll pluck up courage to tell my wife later perhaps) 🤔There are some odd spacers in my odds box for the Evolux 61ed with its dedicated field flatener, perhaps you can advise? I've Mounted everything on my tuned and guided Gti with nina running on my quieter 2 it's all looking very exciting.. Have a good Xmas, atb Tom..
ОтветитьJust curious. I'm brand new and am looking to update cameras from my Nikon D5000 and was wondering if this camera would work with the Sky-Watcher Evostar 100ED that is an f/9 scope. Excellent video and very good explanation. Just don't know if this camera would work well with my f/9 scope. Thanks for your help.
ОтветитьBin 2x2 on an OSC camera is simple a wast of time :)
ОтветитьHola, tengo un problema con la zwo 585mc, no me deja exponer más de 0.5s,me da error que active el cooler, cosa que esta cámara no tiene. Porque no puedo hacer exposiciónes largas de cielo profundo?
ОтветитьBought one cose of you! :P If im not happy i will write it here ! :) Best wishes
ОтветитьI think I could have saved money by getting one of these for cold Nebraska nights. That should cool it well.
ОтветитьWow not bad for a planetary camera. Ok now I’m on the fence about a $500 planetary vs $2500 DSO cam. I’m in the California desert and the temps can get up to 85°F at night so maybe I need the camera cooling? What to do…
ОтветитьWow ,nice !!!!
ОтветитьJust picked up one of these cameras myself for my first attempts at planetary imaging. Very interested to see I might get some use out of it on deep sky targets as well. Cheers!
ОтветитьThere is a lot of walking noise, you must use some dithering.
ОтветитьHello again, following on from your splendid video, I was wondering what gain setting you would advise for deep sky imaging for the 585MC? I watched another video on the 585MC (not as good as yours obviously) where he mentioned a gain of 252 being a sweet spot. Hope you can advise. Thanks again, Dougie 👍
ОтветитьThanks for finishing to convice me. It cost me almost as much to modd my dslr than this cam. This cam will be nice to get better in DSO, until I'm skilled enough to switch to a cooled version, even if its not the best one I think it will be a good step from unmodded cheap dslr.
ОтветитьI already have the 533MC from Flo (cooled is essential out here in Saudi ;) ) but this is interesting for my home base in Finland. I'd like to see a more in depth test with longer total exposure and calibration. Also some dark frames taken at room temperature ofr say 3 and 5 and 10 minutes stretched to see how dark the dark frames are. A mono version could be pretty useful
ОтветитьThat's a brilliant video.
I have the same problem, i want a 533 but have no money 😂
Do you think that a 585 paired with a very short scope could be any good? Thank you!
Just found your channel. Great stuff! Subbed! I am bouncing back and forth between this, the asi585 and the asi678. I know the pixel size is 2 micron (smaller) on the 678 so i guess that would zoom in on planets but would it still be good for deep sky objects? I would be oversampling with either camera but more so with the 678 but I don’t know how much of an issue that is and which would better. Would love to do planets with a Barlow and deep sky with either my 470mm 4 inch scope or my 1150mm 6” SCT. Any thoughts on one camera versus the other?THANKS!
ОтветитьGot one from FLO. Early days and the weather hasn't really cooperated much but I'm looking forward to winter, apart from the energy bills... lol!
ОтветитьNot bad, I would say its comparable to a astro modded DSLR.
ОтветитьI could be wrong about this - but isn't the whole binning issue dead with cmos cameras? there is no advantage to binning except reduced file size. when you capture 1x1, you can simply average the pixels 2x2 to create a virtual 2x2bin, which is really all the camera is doing in the first place. This is dfferent from the previous CCD cameras in which there was a SNR advantage. This is pretty obvious side by side - where you get an amplification of both signal AND noise by binning in the tests.
ОтветитьExcellent to see this camera in action.
Did you have the 1x1 and 2x2 images swapped for the Bubble Nebula comparison? I would expect 2x2 to have less noise, but it looked like more in the video
Awesome work putting this together Chris mate!! - this is a really cracking alternative to the classic astro mod dslr route of things, so great we have these things available as giving people more options is rarely a bad thing! :-D
The 1x1 and 2x2 comparisons were interesting to see, thank you for sharing those, and most of all, superb work on your bubble & wall images mate!! Keep up the great work 👍👍
I was hoping you’d review this! I was hovering in the buy button anyway, but this was all the excuse I needed. Ordered from FLO today, sorry about the clouds this brings everyone.
ОтветитьA me sembra impossibile tu possa fare pose da 3 minuti cadauna senza darkframe visto il gran rumore di questa serie di camere nate per il planetario. Ho la stessa camera, ho prodotto il masterdark di 1 minuto ed è già pieno di disturbo.
ОтветитьI've currently got an ASI533 and a Redcat51 piggybacked on my 8" Newt. Sometimes the Redcat guides the Newt and other times the Newt guides the Redcat. One of these on my Redcat might serve as both a guide camera (instead of my 120mini) and an imaging camera, and stop me swapping the 533 about? I am very lazy!
ОтветитьThanks for sharing. Some great images.
ОтветитьResults look pretty good but I think the 2x2 binning looks quite noisy. Do you dither? I believe you can do without dark frames if you dither which could be great on a camera with no amp glow.
ОтветитьYou're definitely on to something Chris, the results from that camera are really very good. this was a really helpful review.
ОтветитьHi Chris, thanks for your great video 👍. There are so few videos about this ZWO camera type and I was considering buying one at one point, but will opt for purchasing an astro-modified DSLR instead as I'm still slowly improving on my rig. Keep up the good work 👍
ОтветитьThanks for the video very interesting! The 2x2 bining comparison looks very good
Ответитьhi mate! great comparisson vid!
2x2 looks awesome 🤩
I've got the imx 290 MC in Svbony flavour and what strikes me is how odd the stars look as compared to my DSLR captures ...
the 585 to me looks like a bigger sensor of the same nature as the imx290 ...
to be honest I am more attracted to the imx178 due to those 14 bit ADC...
i noticed the new flavour called 678 is only 12 bit and slower transfer rate ... shame ...
congrats on your results! I guess that f4 is coming handy ;)
I only just redone my mount and last night I finally was able to guide properly my 800 FL APO within 0.5 arcsecs for 90 seconds consistently. maybe tonight push for 180 ... dunno ... if not stick to what works ...
Very Honest review Chris. Love the Image of Bubble Nebula. That 2x2 binning really gives More Signal. I should try Out with my ASI 224!
