Great video,
Most people's dominant eye is their right one, so you tend to be very comfortable looking at the right side of things, driving is a simple example. Videogames as well! So why would you go to the left side when attacking naturally, why do most people do this? It's because if you attack the left side, you have full vision of your opponent on your right eye, if you attack him on his right and you are right eyed, you will only see the mattress on your dominant eye space in your concentrated vision and you won't notice this unless you really pay attention to it as you have been for years naturally looking at things just like anyone may look at things, so you can't feel comfortable tracking your opponent from that attack initially, I know it sounds like bro science but you could look up a dominant eye test, in video games right eyed people are advised to place their gun to the left side of the screen as they concentrate more on the right side of the screen when competing in esports! But their gun being on the right side looks distracting usually, speaking at a high level, that's why you see some professional gamers with their gun model on the left side of their character.

interesting fact about abusing right / left sides in combat against humans: they built these defensive stairs in castle towers that are spiral shaped back then that way because most people are right handed wielding a sword! The defenders at the top defending against the infantry going upstairs would have the advantage, as they would swing freely with their rightsided space looking down the stairs, where the intruders going up would have their weapons against the walls and have only space to their left side, so they would panic to try and fight in such space.

Lastly there is also the fact that when you are right handed, which is the case for most of us, you exert force from your right hand, but that doesn't mean you will land a right hook to the right! every right sided body movement loves to land on the opposite side which is left in this case, that's where it's most natural and powerful, right hooks land with force pointing to the left even if you hit them on the right side of their body and it still naturally correlates with grappling instinctively! Mostly it's due to the dominant eye though, look it up it might interest you, thanks for the great videos I have always had interest in BJJ for years and I have never felt like I had the chance, finances or even find a school for it in my country to start. This channel has reignited my love to the art and I am taking it seriously more than ever.

Can’t beat me if I’m equally bad at both sides

The problem with that is 'everyone' will look at you like your crazy. Anytime i was learning something new i would always make sure to learn from both sides. Ultimately i really don't care what people think anymore, because my ego has already died. Yes i agree it's good to be sure to learn the moves correctly first but if you're not training to learn everything from all sides, then you're just unauthentic. Great to hear from a black belts point of view that i am really not alone. Give em hell 😎🖖✌

Honestly think you're one of the best bjj coaches in the world. It's not easy to condense so much info down in such easy to understand vids. Much appreciated.
