Guatemala means Captive Eagle and it is a named by the Mexican tribe that came to Guatemala with Pedro de Alvarado, Spanish conqueror. That is how they referred to the peace of land, as the Captive Eagle. Guatemala NO SIGNIFICA “Tierra de muchos árboles” from a channel called Guate a Pata explains it.
