I learned more about myself from this movie than I think Disney intended

They don’t make trailers or movies like this anymore.

I love this movie, it’s a masterpiece, and one of my favourite movies of all time, but this trailer SUCKS. Utterly fails at conveying the story, the characters, the tone, and the heart which is this movies core.

Its like they just tried to cram as many random zany moments from the film as possible and what we get is haphazard nonsense when what we SHOULD be getting is a blurb of the movie.

Here’s what the trailer should tell you; Ursula is a rich girl, engaged to a douchebag, whose world is upended when on holiday in Africa she is saved by a cute clutzy Tarzan with a heart of gold.

That’s the story.

You would not know that from this trailer.

The frustrating thing is the ideal trailer for this movie would be SO simple: clip of Ursula on holiday, clip of Lionel showing up uninvited, clip of him bailing when she’s in danger, clip of George smacking into the tree then saving her, montage of their cute moments punctuated with snippets of the other stuff (the poachers, Lionel and Ursula’s family being dicks, end trailer on the “now is the part where we throw our heads back and laugh” joke because it’s THE BEST JOKE)

Yes it’s a basic, formulaic trailer. Formulas work for a reason.

(No hate to the channel, by the way, I get the that is about preserving trailers.)
