How To Build Vaulted Roof For Crawlspace Home Addition - Design, Framing And Assembly Ideas

Wondering if it's possible to have the addition that has a sort of saltbox or shed dormer style roof, perhaps at a 3 in 12 or 4 in 12 pitch, rising up to meet the existing roof that is at a steeper pitch, maybe 10 in 12 or 12 in 12. So there's no valley, just the existing roofline sloping down towards the addition, then transitioning to a shallower slope that ends at the front of the addition. No gable. Hope that makes sense. Haha

What is keeping the walls from kicking out? Not a continuous load support on ridge ends????

This is great 10/10. Thank you. My question I’m trying to solve is how much can I remove of the pre existing roof to take advantage of turning the old room into a higher ceiling. I am adding about 8 feet to my kitchen and another 10 for a back deck.

At the ridge what angle will it be where the jack rafters will sit down on the main roof

Another great video…I know you had a video on removing floor joists on a vaulted room, which are needed so walls don’t push out. What is used on a vaulted room so they don’t push out? A thicker ridge beam?

What if the original attic is already made to an attic room, can the addition connects and goes through to the original attic room?

Is it difficult to carry a vaulted ceiling into the existing home? I would like to add a sunroom that has a vaulted ceiling, But instead of having a crawlspace where the new roof meets, I would like the existing roof structure to be modified and connected into the vaulted ceiling of the addition.

Does the new roof framing have to sit and be fastened to the existing sheathing or is it possible to lay new framing on the existing shingles and just locate rafters pop some lines and fasten accordingly?????
