fun fact: even if you have a premium account in tf2 you cant use voice or text chat if your steam account isnt activated (meaning you have to spend at least 5 dollars on steam)

also ,maby valve added the restict in comunication beacause to pay TF2 employers

Let's be honest, the affected people are MOSTLY LEGIT PLAYERS! It's kind of sickening, even if it wasn't done with any ill will.

You said you first started playing tf2 in 2017 and i started thinking. I truly was burnt out by 2017, after 1600 hours across like 3-4 years. And i started playing right before star_ stopped making videos, and hes sorta back. Tf2 has generations its crazy

Oh and you never got to experience the wonder of pubs. It was such a different atmosphere back then.

Yeah i know some people think being f2p is a option since you can Just buy anything for 5 dollars but for people who live in poor countrys like me (Brazil) it's almost Impossible to convive your parents to buy It unless ur a adult getting a job, not being able to kick bots or Just to communicate that there's a bot is so sad.

funnily enough i wouldve gotten tf2 even if it wasnt free to play, but i didnt get my first pc until 2015 or something, so LONG after it became free, and im DEFINITELY spending money on it, ive kind of re-found my addiction for this game in the form of mann up missions 🤣

I personally got into the game from the SFM community, I think the one that got me to play it is Turbulence

i am a f2p and the only way for me to call medic is too keep hitting my medic but he still doesnt heal

I mean they are captilizing on the fact bots are giving them more money but on top of that it is kinda scummy

When I started playing TF2 back in 2017 right after the jungle inferno update I had a blast as a f2p and had no intent to upgrade to premium but the laptop that I played on broke I hadn't played about a year later so when I got my first major system in July of 2020 I was left a f2p that can't talk with 70 hours. Call me dramatic but it felt like my mouth was sewn shut. Thankfully my best friend at the time got me a steam card so I bought a strange flamethrower that had upgraded. Though those two changes are the worst in video game history imo.

For someone who started in late June of 2023 so far I have gotten 6 aussies, an unusual for soldier, win 90% of my fights as soldier, amazing sentry nest knowledge on most payload and CTF maps, I think 300 hours and gaining so much progress from F2P to now, I am surprised.

And now the bots still use vc and chat, now it's even worse
