Nice to have a video of build of this kit. The fit issues don't deter me. I'll get around to this one soon

Awesome job, your a better person than me as wouldn't purchase this after seeing this, I'm shocked this kit was that poorly made.

The Revell Thin Glue that has the needle is the best glue to use on older models.

This is why I don’t buy Revell kits. Too much work to make things fit. Tamiya kits are the way to go.

Revell AG kits engineering are very much hit and miss, fit wise. It's unfortunate as they have some great subjects, but suffer from these issues.

The Revell plastic can be weird sometimes. If Tamiya extra thin, or their own Contacta won't do the job, you could try the old Faller railroad plastic glue. It smells like rubber tires but it'll bond most stubborn types of styrene. Amazing job on this beast!

Just found ya and this is pretty cool and timely. I’m building a 1/32 b24. The scale and size for the bench is crazy. Haha. I pulled some tips so thanks for doing this kit and looking forward to seeing how this ends. My kit too has some major gaps and this was helpful with that too!! Thanks!

I had the same issues with Robin Olds's F4 Phantom in 1/48th scale. I thought it was just me. The plastic sucks.

You made it to just a boring outside-only model? Such a waster, that is so sad. Anyhow, thanks for sharing.

Revell are not doing themselves any favours producing poor standard models like these in this day and age

Revell what is wrong here!
Good job correcting the warping, etc. Of the large plastic parts. Many years i built a 1/72 scale PBY-4 Privateer, it was branded Revell but believe it was originally a Minicraft kit. What mess it was, used a heat gun. Hot water, etc. To get the twists and warpage out if tge fuselage and wings. At least the majority. Good job on the beast.

I admire your determination to carry on with this beast and a mighty fine job you have done with it. I tried to build a Heller 1/48 Rafale moulded in "non stick" plastic but ended up feeding it to the bin.

Great video!! I'm working in this model right now too. This is my first plane model so I don't really have a baseline for fit quality but I'm glad people generally agree many of this fitment issues are not normal cause even though I'm absolutely loving the building part and I can't wait to start another project, there is sooo much gap filling. Don't just take what I say as the best way to do things cause I'm new to this and it might just be me, but here go some tips that I think can be useful for anyone wanting to buy it:
I'm using the thicker Tamiya cement and it works very well.
The side windows can protrude a lot more than in this video, so dry fit to check, it may be better to just fill the hole with some water based putty and make it flush without having to sand for half an hour, or you could sand the windows before glueing them.
The front landing gear doors and the front side door will tend to fall into the model and not sit flush at all (even a whole mm towards the inside) as well as have big gaps. They can also detach as the contact points with the rest of the fuselage are tiny. It may be better to just use some styrene sheet (just as he does with the rear cargo door, which you'll need to do as well) and glue them on top or just cover it with putty and scribe the lines.
Better glue the engines to the wings before priming cause there'll most probably be gaps there too, I'm surprised you didn't have to fill any gaps there tbh.
Absolutely do as he did before glueing the wings and install some kind of bracing between the two sides, that's a great tip, otherwise the gap in the underside between the wings and the fuselage will be bigger and a nightmare to fill, as the fuselage will bend towards the inside and detach from whatever you used to fill the gap. At least with the materials I've tried that's what happened more than once. Also use something where you have to sand as little as possible as it's really awkward to do so, specially with the gear wells in place, which you will probably have to glue before priming as they also easily form gaps.

Great subject, but I won't be buying. The fit issues are just too much of a challenge. Revell has no excuse for this. Great build, great video.

There is some of plastic that will not work well with the thin glues. They will work well with the thicker glues and the testers tube glue is best for thiz.

In isolation, this is a fair model and kudos to Revell Germany for offering it in 1/72 scale. It is, however, a bit of a disappointment when compared to Revell Germany's earlier 1/72 C-160 Transall and Breguet Atlantique. The details of these two kits were simply excellent and those of the A400 seem soft by comparison, almost as if Revell was cost cutting and trying to economise.
You've made a good start. Looking forward to the completion of the build.
