Trump is such a ducking idiot. Geography still makes Ukraine and Taiwan an important interest for the US.

An independent or allied Ukraine means Russia can never invade the rest of Europe. An independent or allied Taiwan means China is hemmed in by the first island chain. With Taiwan, China has access to the entire Pacific in the event of a war.

Strategically, i don't care if both countries are nothing but a few military bases. Their mere existence saves everyone but China and Russia billions in defense spending every year. Of course politically and ethically I want them to be free, successful, and Democratic as well
