Im glad i watched this
ОтветитьScotty, first time to your channel. Thank you so much for the information and laughs If you could, would your opinion change if it was a class B van? I am in the process of purchasing a class B van (on a Ford 350 transit) but the RV dealership contacted advised theirs is on a 2022 Ford 350 (which is rear wheel drive.) I was looking for the 2024 which is all wheel drive. I am trying to decide if that is necessary. Thank you for any input you may be able to share.
ОтветитьYou answer all my car questions before I even ask them. You’re a God send Scotty! ✨🙏🏾
ОтветитьBefore it’s too late ⚰️ lol
Ответить@scottykilmer Hey Scotty, my wife has a full time awd lexus rx 350. I replaced the front tires a couple of months ago. Back tires are evenly worn at about 50% tread. Should I replace them as well?
ОтветитьRotate, rotate, rotate and they still wear out funny, the tires. Four wheel alignment as well. We had an AWD for a winter car for years. It was fun. Now? Front drive Fusion and it is quite capable in the snow. Just a nice car all around.
Next winter car? Probably AWD again. My Beloved likes the SUV thing. I can't stand them. I may get me a little Subaru and drive the piss out of it for a while... Get her a damn Lincoln again. She loves those seats
Hell no they are a pain in the arse.
ОтветитьDon't. All Wheel drive is a rip off. It's really just 4 wheel drive.
Real all wheel drive would be 5 wheel drive. The fact is the wheel that the spare tire is on is not connected to anything that will make it turn.
Some day Citroen will make a big SUV with REAL all wheel drive. It will have their Hydro-pneumatique suspension so if you have to parallel park it, the hydraulics will pump up the front suspension at the same time that transverse mounted spare tire on the rear bumper will be lowered so it will touch the ground, thus the weight of this thing will be held up by these 3 wheels. the hydro-pneumatique system then lowers the air pressure of the rear wheel's suspension so they can slide on the pavement. Step #2 is the transmission shifts so it will turn the front wheels in opposite directions. At this time an electric motor will turn the spare tire. These 3 wheels will be turning in different directions, and the truck will rotate to become paralelle to the curb.
I opted for FWD and chains, never had an issue
ОтветитьI like my front wheel drive
ОтветитьI sold my Forester and ended getting a HArley Davidson.I don't want to deal with their suspensions system its garbage especially those bushings!
ОтветитьI found myself at the bottom of a very long steep gravel mountain road and there were bears around there and no phone reception. I never would have gotten back up to the top without all wheel drive. Toyota all wheel drive.
Ответитьdon't listen to a texan about awd
ОтветитьOwned front wheel drives all my life, except before they came out with them, but I always have great traction , just as long if you have good tires & rotate when needed.
ОтветитьGM had problems with AWD on the full size SUVs (Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali/XL and the 2006 Suburban LTZ). In 2011,they gave the option of 2 or 4 wheel drive.
ОтветитьI have mazda demio
I like cx3 and axela for the 2 months of raining but is not worth it
This is amazing and exactly what i needed. Tomorrow i’m buying a 2023 Hyundai palisade caligraphi
ОтветитьI have never felt the need. I had a 05 Elantra that did just fine in the Rockies in Montana and Cascades in Washington. With good quality all-season tires. No issues whatsoever in heavy snow, for many years. I did pass a lot of AWD SUVs that were stuck in the ditch!
ОтветитьHey Scotty that Lincoln is sure sharp! 70 or 71?
ОтветитьI will stick with my front wheel drive. I never buy a awd.
ОтветитьThank you for all your videos Scotty. You’ve helped me so much.
ОтветитьI'm debating between rav4 awd or 2wd
ОтветитьI always buy all four tires at the same time. I rotate tires at each oil change, every 5k miles, so they wear evenly and need replacing at the same time.
ОтветитьOf course, not all AWD cars are created equal. Most are actually 2WD most of the time. Common "AWD" cars like Honda CRV and Toyota Rav 4 are FWD vehicles that only kick in the real wheels when the car senses slippage in the drive wheels. These should be put in a separate category from cars like Subaru that are full time AWD, all four wheels engaged at all times.
ОтветитьCan you disconnect the rear wheels from the transfer case ?
ОтветитьAnd on normal roads they drive by gripping the road the way 2 lovers do
ОтветитьNice video.. 😜😜😜
ОтветитьI'm just plain happy if it has four wheels and goes.
ОтветитьMy experience after I drove an all-wheel-drive😐I love it even more in torrential 🌧🥰😍
ОтветитьMy mom has a AWD car for winters cause we live in Michigan me and dad drive 4x4 trucks
ОтветитьI think 4 wheel vehicles brake and stop completed quicker and stable because the engine itself stops and slows down 4 wheel instead of 2. Correct? Unless when we are breaking a 4 wheel drive vehicle the gearbox automatically turns neutral.
ОтветитьWhat about the 2009 Matrix AWD with 150,000 miles?
ОтветитьUr #1 fan from Manila
ОтветитьAWD is a must up here. Sure you could get by with FWD or RWD and good tires, but it's just not as safe as AWD with good tires. I'd spend a little money and keep my life.
Ответитьchevy trax/ buick encore use a special ptu/ transfer case lube. the rear differentials use a simple synthetic lube. amsoil is what i use. the ptu had to by from a gm website. it took forever just to get the superseded part number. takes like 7-8 tenths of a quart at like 50 bucks. i changed it at 64,000 miles. old oil was clean. because the ptu rarely even works. basically an all wheel drive is a front wheel drive with rear wheel grip assist. you will be just as well to buy front wheel drive and buy a pair of general artic trac snow tires for the front. i just bought a spare set of wheels, no tpm sensors and worked just fine on a steep snow covered uphill driveway. it pulled like a mountain goat.
Ответитьnext episode is should you buy a no wheel drive car. just cut holes in the floorboards and make it a flintstone mobile. china brake shoes cost more than cheap u.s. tennis shoes for stopping. its a no brainer!
ОтветитьToday is 4/25/2021 and you put out a video on how good Honda's are, it gave me peace of mind since I just bought a used Honda Pilot, but ... it's AWD and now I'm concerned with the information provided here in this video. Right now it's runs super smooth and quiet, and I'll maintain it the best I can, and hope that it gives me at least 70,000 miles more.
Ответить“NO!! You should only buy a USED TOYOTA CAMRY!!”
ОтветитьI just watched this at X2 speed and it I'm spinning
ОтветитьWatched this. Still don't know if I should get AWD or not
ОтветитьThe impression I gather is forget AWD and stay away from Season tires unless you don't deal with winter weather. Go buy all Weather tires (Mountain Tires) they do amazingly well in snowy conditions and rainy conditions. They also work well in the summer time. Snow tires are the absolute best for winter driving, but have to be changed out on normal days or you will ruin them. The stopping and going between snow tires and weather tires aren't too far apart either. But both absolutely dominate all season tires altogether!
ОтветитьBut cats don’t have wheels
ОтветитьI'm in love with my 01 Subaru outback. It snowed a lot here in Ohio this year, but that didn't stop this car.
The thing I love about this car is the fact that everythings so damn easy to get to as well. Making repairs a bit easier then other vehicles.
Compare this to my old Mazda 10 2010 that I used to have, was a piece of junk.
You can replace 1 or 2 tires from the dealer and they can shave it down to match the current ones.
ОтветитьAWD is heavier, as you mentioned, which increases braking distance (everything else being equal). You believe this is safer than 2WD? AWD helps with forward acceleration, true, but doesn't help with turning, doesn't reduce sliding from side to side, and reduces braking distance. So why do you think they're safer?
ОтветитьScotty: You are practical, experienced, concise, and just saved me three grand on my purchase of an Acura RDX. GREAT video! THANKS! Subscribed!
ОтветитьWHY don't you make a video for RWD (F-150)??
ОтветитьI’m cheap too Scotty. Lol
ОтветитьI love my Expedition all wheel drive. I live in a cold climate and is perfect when the weather turns crappy.
Ответить
