If you are spending that kind of cash to pull consistently best tasting espresso how isnt everyone getting a Decent? Other than looks ofcourse, classic machines look more classy. But if it is 100% about the coffee, can the Decent be beat?

Useful to know what is good. Looks like the market is dominated by the E61 still, where maintenance isn’t as easy in my opinion vs LM/Simonelli/VA equipment. Realistically though if it’s got a 58mm basket I’ll be relatively happy, the rest is down to learning the equipment and skill. What I think really makes a difference is in the grinder, which I lucked into a good used EK by chance but wouldn’t be recommending as a sensible purchase. That said second hand Mazzer SJs or clones are super cheap and rather easy to maintain (and recondition) and occasionally come up from closures/liquidations.

La Marzocco Linea Mini is the best espresso machine for baristas and former baristas.

Holy cow, I can't imagine being able to rationalize a $2000 to $4000 machine for coffee.
