Drinker's Chasers - The Great Fallout Debate

It's a fun little show and the chick with the ET eyes is hot. Dont know the game but I know comics & most of those movies don't replicate the comics at all but I love the movies & they're made to get as many people watching as possible, just the nature of the beast.

Is it just me or has the Critical Drinker got a bit more... influenced?

This is one of those shows, like many others, that is intended for adults but made for kids. That point that was made it was made for fans of the video games but if you are a fan of the video games, you realize how much this show sucks.
Another thing I didn’t like was it was made like movies nowadays, for a sequel. This show crammed too much flashbacks and plot jumping to get anything done.

I'm surprised I haven't heard any criticism for how sterile the wasteland feels. There's never any exploration of resource management or struggling against the elements in this show, and it makes the wasteland feel so much less dangerous than it already does

The vertibirds came in fallout 1, usually seen as wreckage. The blimp came in fallout 4. The brotherhood made a cross country migration in the later games, some stopped in random locations like the Mojave all the way to DC. This broke the culture of the BOS due to lax recruitment and the Western Brotherhood's disregard for the needs of the other established chapters.

I feel like with most of the things MauLer brought up, the response started with "Well..."

I started this video thinking that the subject was gonna be fallout 76. Haven't watched a second of the show, and I'm not sure if I knew there was a show... But happy to watch this breakdown!

The problems Hollywood has always had was the lack of being faithful to the lore.

Reaper comes across as someone who doesn't understand irony.
The inhabitants in the vaults are obviously so depending on tech and so extremely spoiled and isolated from any real problems they're totally useless. That's sort of the point...

As a show, it's awesome compared to anything the past few years.
If you consider the game and canon, it doesn't hold up well.

I watched season one 3 times and enjoyed it each time. There are some annoying things, like the black dude's entire character, but otherwise it's a great show for fans of the games

I must've put 2000 hrs into the games, and like Lance, I was expecting the worst. It wasn't perfect, and you can nit-pick MANY things, but I still really enjoyed it. I thought the fan service was done just about as well as it could be. I'm sure low expectations helped, but if the next season is equally as good, then I'll be happy watching that too.

Fallout was so unimersive i vouldnt take any of it on board. It came off as a childs show that wanted to be grown up

I love the Fallout TV show! I know it’s not perfect but it’s a fantastic start.

The games are not as satirical as the show tried so hard to be, at least not in the good games. New Vegas takes itself very seriously when it comes to the power struggles and morality of those seeking power, and you can make convincing arguments for all seeking power from a certain perspective. Maldover makes literally no sense, coming in to the Vault and nearly killing Lucy and partnering her with a psychopath and all for what? How did that improve her goal? Upon watching it fully the show is nonsensical garbage, and such a shame.

I know this is late but I do find it very telling how little Mauler understands about Fallout. The politics of these games are ALWAYS satirically heavy handed.

Fall Out sucks, I played the games was not really a huge fan of them and then the show was very meh, Actors were not great, Bad CGI in places, Music got meh by the end and the plot was like 90% of the people in the world.. Yup Retarded and only about quarter of the jokes landed, Rest made little to no sense. That's fall out in a nutshell really. Oh.. One Ghoul took out about 6 paladins in there power armour... Yeah.. FO was clearly done well lol That's sarcasm.. i feel i actually need to say the last part just.. for people.. You know who you are lol But yea FO the show sucks.

The guy who criticises having a finger reattached by a robot that intends to harvest your organs doesn't seem to realise that this is typical Fallout humour.

Their takes on some of the so called "inconsistencies" of the show, prove that they can be just as guilty of talking about things they don't understand/care about, as other writers who try to adapt material they don't understand/care about.

The show was very faithful to the mechanics of the game - for example, if you analyze all characters through the RPG lens of the SPECIAL system, everything makes sense, and the show is very obvious that they are taking inspiration from this system. I.E You can clearly see that Titus has low Intelligence but high Luck, so despite his stupidity things always work out for him on what seems to be "Plot armor" (such as the Ghoul missing the same weakspot shot that would kill the soldier in EP 8 - you can even see the Ghoul's face of surprise of "wait, did I miss this shot?").

Most people who actually played the games enjoyed the show, exactly because it makes sense in the universe. But here they are criticizing when the showrunners cater to the target audience. So damned if they do, damned if they don't...

Wow, this is like when Harlan Ellison took over Hour 25 from J Michel Stravensky. Started off OK them became a bitch show every week. God you guys are not only killing the show your making it a drag do even watch it. TV is so bad these days I miss most shows intentionally. I enjoyed the games and I enjoyed the shows, not perfect but 100% better than most stuff on TV and I have watched TV and movies longer that all of you as I am almost 68. Let the attacks begin.
