This car deserves another adventure. A proper!
ОтветитьI hear your explanation about the MPG, but on a long run, the 22 MPG is still on the low side for a long-haul trip. For City Driving, 18-22 would be acceptable, but the long hauls you did in Spain should have given you minimum 25 MPG and as much as 28. I still recommend checking the AFR for through cruising, and WOT on boost. Also, ensure your Cats are not blocked. I've tuned a 930 that made 450 WHP and 450 lbft torque on 1 bar, and it was smooth and perfectly well-behaved. It had forged pistons, and I believe the turbo was not stock. We ran EFI with 2 injectors per cylinder, but the 2nd set never came on as we never had to pass 1 bar to achieve the 450 WHP. The engine tune at high rpm sounded like a Honda V-Tech smooth rather than a Horizontally Opposed engine, which is rather a compliment.
ОтветитьYou can still accurately weigh with 1 non-working cell: use all 4 as normal (one won't read); note down numbers on 3 working axles; swap non-working cell with one that works, and take reading in the working cell's swapped position. (The 2 other working cells will read the same.)
Hence, you have now 4 good readings, after a slight bit of faffing.
You could work with just one working cell, if you swapped this to all 4 corners in turn...
I wonder if having a mileometer mecanism, counting miles instead of km, on a km/h speedo is a hack for "low km" on the counter.
If only the face was changed, the speed readings would be very low (38% lower). So every "km" that car adds is actually 1.61 km.
Thank you for your videos, Harry, I´ve been enjoying them for years.
Nothing is as stupid as a smart motorway.
ОтветитьThose 391 hp are to the wheels. The real power of the car is to the crank and its around 15 to 20% higher than to the wheels. Those 330hp of the standard 930 turbo s are to the crank. So if this car makes 391hp to the wheels, that means it does about 450hp to the crank. I can't believe someone like Harry doesnt know something any car guy knows. I always had the sensation he was a chap with a shitload of money but not real knowledge of cars. Now I have the proof.
ОтветитьTasteful car. ❤
ОтветитьWhat a bitchin’ car, thanks for the video Harry ❤
ОтветитьI think these are RUF wheels….yellow bird replica in red…😁
Ответить100hp more than a stock Toyota Camry family sedan and 35 less than a 10 year old pushrod Camaro. Progress.
ОтветитьThat's crazy, I remember seeing this car broken down on the M27 a good while ago, was a sad sight, I'm glad you got it sorted that motorway is dangerous Harry
ОтветитьThat special feeling comes from LHD Harry 🤩. 😉
ОтветитьRUF! If you turn the Speedo 90d maybe it will speak German? Thanks for the minutia! 😎🤙
ОтветитьWhat an absolute peach
ОтветитьOne of my fave cars on planet earth Harry. My word yours is so special with the engine mods. She could not be in better hands. Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьThis is by far the nicest 930 S ever...
ОтветитьA better breathing head does not benefit at all, if you do not implement a sharper cam as well!
Though, a sharper cam should give you more than just a 20% - including bigger heads.
I expect there should be more if it will be optimized in air-fuel and ignition.
That was an awesome tour of the shop. I would take your 930 over a GT-R any day!
ОтветитьThat car is deadly in inexperienced hands, but such a beautiful beast.
ОтветитьThe 930 doesn't like you?
ОтветитьHello Harry:
Greetings from America. Your 930S is truly "weapon grade", beautiful car.
The dyno # of 391hp; is that at the wheels? If so, the crank #'s would be somewhere around 420-440hp. Very close to Ruf CTR numbers. Would you happen to know which K27 turbo is used. That turbo could be spec'd with different housings depending on the desired hp curve.
Best wishes,
JP NY.
Oh man, I bet the radio at Litchfield cost you being able to monetize this video
ОтветитьI find it remarkable that this car, being lighter, lower and way more aerodynamic, only gets fuel mileage that is only half of the RR Wraith Black Badge, a car that is a brick, way heavier and twice the engine size. It's like they engineered away gravity.
ОтветитьMAN I WISH I HAD THAT CAR
ОтветитьWill Billy Idol be claiming royalties me wonders?
ОтветитьDon't know if it's just me but i love how Porsche's hunker down at the rear when giving it full send.
ОтветитьMy dream 911 right there!
ОтветитьNever apologize for Billy Idol.
ОтветитьYou need knee high asbestos dyno socks
ОтветитьAll those GTRs at Litchfield puts me off the idea of a GTR, Are they always breaking down? Aren't they good enough when standard? Why do so many need so much work? I think I'd rather have a car that is right from the factory!!
ОтветитьThat is the cream of the crop when it comes to 930s. I didn't know they even offered a S on the 930. I had an 82 with the K27, 1 bar tail, headers and an intake. With the 4 speed gearing, my lawn mower could probably have beaten it up to 30. I'm sure the cams were stock. Funny how nice the leather was and smelled after 45 years. The turbo was like a light switch... on or off.
Ответитьapologies for being late, but interested to know what ECU/injection system it uses? Is it the factory ECU or aftermarket??
ОтветитьFantastic! 🏁
ОтветитьCoolest 911
ОтветитьIt’s funny, back in Performance car and Evo days, I used to think you were not a great 911 fan. I remember that the “against” comment on the 993gt2 was …Harry won’t buy one!!
ОтветитьThis is the best car of your collection.
ОтветитьWhat the hell is a 'smart motorway' ?
ОтветитьLove the car Harry. Get the brakes upgraded!
ОтветитьA dyno test must be the only thing which strikes fear in any man's heart. Has anyone seen a dyno test first hand? It's brutal.
ОтветитьErrr... Mr Harry; that's not a 930 monster.I used to rebuild 110mph blueprinted 126's so I probably know what I'm talking about.
ОтветитьI hear they are incredibly hard to drive when pushing them in corners?
ОтветитьGreat Video. TurboKraft in the states rebuilt mine. Love these cars!
ОтветитьGetting geeky?? Here……. The best things you can do for 930s is #1 change the exhaust - the long pipe in between the heads and turbo take time to build pressure and thus the turbo lag. This 930S would pick up more power less lag with a better exhaust as it still has the stock one on it. #2 bigger turbo - K27 is the easy go to unit; you could increase inter cooler at this time as it goes hand and hand with the big turbo. #3 change cams to 911SC or 964 the SC cam gives more power down low and the 964 gives power up top but I think there is so much f*ing power up top already so go for SC. #4 increase displacement to 3.4 this usually bumps compression up half a point and really improves the off turbo power. #5 you can increase the flow on the heads by opening the ports - 37mm is the limit for the stock insulator blocks which is far far better than the stock 32mm size. Of course you can go nuts by going to EFI, tuned exhaust, fuel distributor mods and there are a few hundred other small items that can be changed but those are the big changes. Thanks for reading - 28yr Porsche mechanic here, I own a 79 930.
ОтветитьWHT make it 930 S?
ОтветитьI like the red undercoating 🤩
ОтветитьNearly 400HP at the wheels in an 1150kg car, must be awesome to drive.
ОтветитьThe dyno boooooooooth
ОтветитьThis puts down about the same power as a 996 turbo right? Impressive!
ОтветитьNice to see a 930 that has not been mutilated by Singer.
ОтветитьMy dream car!! Enjoy it!!
