I’ve just followed this guide for my PS5 left stick drift and it’s really helped. It’s not completely fixed but the controller is at least usable now and only drifts occasionally. Thank you so much!

I have a question: Does it have to be rubbing alcohol, or can it also be like for example hand sanitizer? Because hand sanitizer is still alcohol please respond.

I got anxiety from seeing the first clip.

cleaning under does nothing. cause 99% of the analog is under that stick. unless you open it up and use a toothbrush or something. not to say it can't work. I've fixed stick drift with an air compressor in the analaog.

I fixed my stick drift a different way i placed my old ds4 infront of my tire then drove over it and went to the store buying a new one

The best way to fix stick drift is to blow as hard as you can into the controller sticks, it wont break them, and you can easily clean the inside dust out of the sticks. Thank me later :)

this is kinda useless... u have to clean the analog sticks, not just the plastic.. u have to clean up those potentiometers... and be extremely careful, i came here to se if u were using some lube for those but u dont even open the controller... i mean... what were u thinking?

Good sir I do not see any videos from you for cleaning or such of PS4 unless I am blind, therefore I am commenting here as the closest related I can find....

I was cleaning my PS4 Slim and I ran into bit of a jam...., I can't get the metal plate back in :( (The one that goes over the fan, heat sync too I think, and the disc drive...)
My issue is that it had this part that's not smooth so you gotta get it just right under. But the black plastic part I can't get it up enough to slide the plate back in :/
(Also concerned it might have actually had thermal paste inbetween that metal plate and the black plastic....I don't know what else this would be... >_<)
I'm afraid with the resistance it will snap and break if I put too much pressure trying to pry up that black plastic part in the back. I need it up juuust enough to get the plate back in and it's just not having any....
I had to take it apart to this degree as it really needed cleaning... The fan especially.
I just can't get the damn thing back together.
Any help is tremendously appreciated. thank you.

I would personally recommend disassembling the whole controller then there is no risk of blowing dirt deep into the controller but only do this if your confident enough to do it and make sure you watch tutorials on disassembling it

why would Blowing air in would fix stick drift?

Not going to hurt anything doing that, However, Its not Really going to help anything either. Now if you were to open the shell and blow directly into the mechanism and remove the hair and crud that tends to build up, You might help. Usually the issue lies in the potentiometers (2 per stick x and y axis) They also get gunked up over time, and can be carefully bent and opened up, cleaned with IPA and good as new. Its more involved and you run the risk of breaking something if you are not used to doing such things as cracking open electronics. It does save you a nice bit of money though, can even buy "broken" controllers from friends, and then clean them and resell them ;)

I've used the compressed air can before with the controller tooken apart. It worked finw afterwards...🤷🏿‍♂

Lol potentiometer wears out with use it's not the dirt though sometimes dirt can cause ghost movement but it's really the wear and tear inside the potentiometer,

I have the ps4 controller that came with the box and I never I had this problem I'm just watching with video to just have a recommendation just in case.
