It looks stunning Ruby
ОтветитьGood result:)
ОтветитьThat's so cool! Welcome to the community!🎉
As a trained bookbinder myself, I have some tips for you:
- try putting the glue on the end paper instead of on the book block and the covers
- glue the gauze only to the back of the block at first. Only paste the rest of it down when glueing on the boards
- when covering the boards, put the glue on the cloth (works best with a big brush or a paint roller)
- try not glueing on the spine of the cover to create a hollow back - most casebound books have one and it will be much easier to open the book. If you don't like that you can look into the spine, you can use the endpaper paper instead of masking tape to make it look prettier.
Have fun experimenting!

Ответитьhi ruby, how much in total did it cost you?? ive been meaning to start book binding as well!
ОтветитьU have no idea how much I love u and wish I was one of ur family cause u the most person that inspires me in the whole world ❤
ОтветитьI love bookbinding!!! I had lots of scrapbook paper so found out how to make notebooks. Now I've got an Etsy. I work in a school and I'm making story books for our yearly production 😁
ОтветитьEvery Bookbinder has that box that hides all the first attempts and learning books. I made the horrendous mistakes of learning on my good books and ruined them, after 32 years of binding I still haven't got around to fixing them...Happy Binding...
ОтветитьI would definitely mess this up
ОтветитьI love books 📚 as well as magazines
ОтветитьAmazing ❤❤❤
ОтветитьMiss Reads Girl 📚 👌👌
ОтветитьI am surprised you didn't up-cycled something from your kitchen for the book covers You can use cardboard from food packaging.
ОтветитьHahaha the transition between "I love books" and aggressively rips cover of a favourite book was startling
ОтветитьInteresting!
ОтветитьI love how she’s actually had a good attempt and included the not so good parts too 👏🏼
ОтветитьIn my days, we used to bind books by using clothes, cardboards and threads

I would love to try this , but would be scared to mess it all up. I will add this to my bucket list of things to try though 👍🏼
- I love books
- oh, really?
Excellent first go.
ОтветитьHey, What did u use for decorating the book spine?
ОтветитьI never new you have to buy all cardboards for binding we just use old files especially box files cover it's cheap and more sturdy and use binding cloths in middle for more sturdiness 😅😅😅
Ответитьa solid 1st edition haha hell yea I wish I could get the courage to do this to all my books. I would make an entire wall design out of the spines since its my library. great job though dude
ОтветитьI started book repair/ bookbinding aswell! You did really well
ОтветитьBeutiful girl
ОтветитьThat isn't actually book binding, it's just recovering
ОтветитьI’m about to be really nitpicky and I would like to apologize in advance
This isn’t exactly book binding. Book binding is typically the entire process of putting the book together (i.e. making signatures, sewing them together, and making the cover). What you did would be considered “rebinding” or “recasting”. This is specifically redoing the cover to a book and is often used as a form of restoration for older books.
Still, this video was really cool and amazing for your first time!
My heart broke when you glued the spine.
ОтветитьIsa.26.3 - You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Isa.26.4 - Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.
Jesus is coming so soon, how prepared are you? He is knocking at the door of your heart
Thank you
