I've gone from a laptop running at one click per boiled kettle, to literally Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Zip-A-Dee-Ay, my oh my it's a Fabulous Day, (leaped frogged 'wonderful' went straight to Fabulous). Oh boy, I click on the mouse and I get an immediate response. It's been awhile since my laptop has responded like that to me, preferring to be available 24/7, for whatever nonsensical, insignificant windows request would be. And let me say, there was no shortage of demands and oh boy, did my laptop outdo itself fulfilling each and every one. As for me, I ask for something, 15 minutes later I'm informed that my request is "Not Responding'' ..... it has been interesting times. Once again, thank you greatly. Next stop is system image, back up and then Ubantu.... interesting times.

I always thought it was programs running in the background, or stay resident programs in RAM that slow your computer down. Informative replies very welcome, just please don't criticize my ignorance.

Assuming that anybody with a new computer in 2021 knows anything about operating systems is nothing but arrogance. If you want to make those assumptions that's fine, but be certain, 90% of the people visiting these videos have ZERO clue where to even start learning how to learn about these systems. If they did, they wouldn't be here. They came here after going to Microsoft for help. Think about what that means for more than a fraction of a second. It shouldn't require an adult an additional college education just to be able to operate the single most necessary technology in their lives.

another is click edge browser go to 3 dots at top right then click system in there click system at left pane and turn off continue running background apps when edge is closed.

Most of the stuff that you suggest deactivating are actually very useful like my pc, most common used folders, one drive etc. I don’t think that this is for the casual users who are 99% of people using windows. These slapping will actually make the windows experience very user unfriendly.

Update: I had to redownload Flight Simulator from scratch. Problem with Winslap, is it offers no options on which Apps to destroy...just the selection the programmer wants to keep.

Doesn't Windows already optimizes itself every 6 months that you want it or not, reset everything to it's preferred default that you like it or not. Windows 10 where we let you do it all for 6 months than you restart.

ps: If you play Microsoft Flight Simulator...take my advice. Don't go anywhere near this!...even after a System Restore...it's still not working.

Doing a clean install of windows also helps to remove some of the preinstalled bloat.
