Consider a de-soldering station. It makes some of these jobs a bit less of a slog. I remember the era of seeing Quadraphonic amps and even quad turntable pickups and headphones in a shop in Windsor England where I went to college. It was such an interesting period. He had most of the Pink Floyd quadraphonic records and some on 8 track, It was a lovely idea.
ОтветитьYou sure that's a "Sound Quality" board, and not an "SQ" matrix decoder board, which is the matrix type some vinyl quadraphonic records (CBS, Vanguard later on, and others, such as your Dark Side of the Moon T-shirt, EMI) album would've used. The other matrix on the amp would just be RM, "Regular Matrix" for use with all the rest except CD-4 which is quite different in requirement.
I have one of these little Toshiba 304's, these are notorious for the bad ink on the faces that fades and comes off easy, not your bad at all.
There are double capacitors which are 2 in 1 canes that some older amps used so be sure if they are single or double
ОтветитьDid you know that mica transistor insulator is better at transferring heat? They have less heat resistance! I have experienced it myself. It is explained on the internet. Mica breaks faster and you have to use more silk gloves. Mica does not burn
ОтветитьGreat video. Very informative while relaxing. Great camera angles. Love your attention to detail, both with repairs and detailing of the unit.
Keep them coming. Thank you.
Nice tape deck and thanks for the video.
I have a Hitachi d 450 and a d 500 and I am finding it difficult to get genuine belts for them. Looks like I will have to opt out for generic.
Pls make a vedio National cw 43audio ic
ОтветитьToshiba label is gone 😭
ОтветитьI have problems with my RCA 3 Disc Changer x Dual Cassette Deck. It works just fine, the spools spin, and the deck produces sound. However, recently the system only works if a certain amount of pressure is applied to the play button. Too less makes the sound sped up and unintelligible, press it all the way (normal position) it slows down and stops in a matter of 2 seconds. How can this be fixed?
ОтветитьWow, now that was a lot of work, I'm delighted that it paid off for you in the end. Oh, and a huge thank you for the shout out BTW, my little channel has seen more growth in the past 2 days than it's seen in the last 3-4 months. Keep up the great restoration work and thanks again ;)
Ответитьnice job!
ОтветитьReally enjoyed the video. I love the variety of cool things you bring on the channel. I have a ZD915 desoldering stating. I love it. Way cheaper than the Haako. Otherwise I use a soldapullt. They are like 22 bucks but they suck like crazy and last for a long time. 8 bits in the basement is one of my fav retro computer channel btw. I'd love to see a collab.
ОтветитьNice video. I always thought Toshiba (as well as Sansui) audio gear was well made and easy to repair. I would cringe every time I had to repair Sony stuff. Nothing unplugged with boards hanging everywhere while trying to replace blown semiconductors and resistors.
ОтветитьNot a easy job !! But it was restored perfectly !!
ОтветитьHi RRG. Welcome back and hope you had a great time off. What a beautiful Amp you restored. Your videos never fails to impress and also brings be back to the late 70's and early 80's....love it, those were the best times.
ОтветитьIf you work on a lot of gear, a Hakko solder sucker will be the best investment you ever make. I could not live without one. Also, I replace axial caps with radial ones all the time without issue.
ОтветитьI believe there are movies that have 4.0 tracks on criterion collection On dvd at local libraries. I can’t remember off top of my head but your best bet is criterion collection to test this sound beauty on a 4.0 track for free.
ОтветитьFor the lettering if you wanted to be a purist you pull badge of defunct unit
ОтветитьWas waiting to see this. Throwing this on big screen now
ОтветитьHi wonderful vid
ОтветитьA wonderful restoration for a beautiful receiver... (I'm am now a subscriber !)
ОтветитьYou should get an Engineer SS-02 solder sucker. Those things don't brake easily and not that expensive neither 😉
Great video as always 👍🏻
