I was around when the Apollo missions news coverage were constantly on TV and I can only say that listening to this brings tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat !!!
ОтветитьMy mum, who was a teen during the 60s and followed the Apollo 8 mission on telly (or maybe it was radio) as it was happening, always tears up over this one. She says it catches the mood completely from how it was.
ОтветитьI would say Ol' Boy, something similar could be said about the deep sea diver. And I hope you will...
ОтветитьSee you at Bearded Theory - I'll be the dude in a kilt
ОтветитьAlthough not a song, but an amazing time during the days of the Apollo missions. Thing is, this is my favorite song! Amazing guys!
Ответитьlistening to this when orion is behind moon waiting for AOS to determine if the engine has fired
ОтветитьBrilliant!!
ОтветитьSimply Top Notch arrangement ..a Super Delight for ears, spirit and Soul Thank You 🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏
ОтветитьUtter class
ОтветитьAbsolute QUALITY
ОтветитьIf you love the Apollo mission stuff watch a film called The Dish. It captures the spirit of the age and the dramas of those missions. Well worth a watch.
ОтветитьDefinite elements of Depeche Mode to be heard in their sound, even Kraftwerk. This band are so good. For people my age this brings back floods of nostalgia. A longing for innocent days gone by when it seemed mankind could do anything. We even believed we could put an end to war. We were naive but innocent at the same time. This song is ambient and nostalgic, it’s a work of magic.
ОтветитьMakes me cry every single time
ОтветитьIt's amazing the power those mission control broadcasts have. I was 10 years old when Apollo 11 landed on the moon. They're so moving, fraught with tension and danger but exhilarating when the Apollo craft respond. PSB capture that brilliantly.
ОтветитьLOVE TO HEAR IT EACH TIME I SEE THE MOON AND THE SUN UPSIDE IN THE UNIVERS ! EXCELLENT SOUND
ОтветитьI have listened to this piece of music absolutely countless times and it never gets any less tense.
So moving.
What a special bunch of guys these people are. Love this band
A masterpiece of music
Ответить36 people are stupid 🙄
ОтветитьYOU GOT THE BEAT!!! BREATHTAKING!
Ответить✝️
ОтветитьThe backside of the moon makes me chuckle..
ОтветитьP.S.B., that’s 5/5 stars edutainment. 😀👍
Ответить20/12/05✨
ОтветитьI wish to be there now and literally let my mind blow!
ОтветитьThis song makes me cry of emotion each time I listen to it
ОтветитьThis track presses my buttons in a very special way: working as a radio operator, I lost contact with an aircraft over Antarctica for several hours. The palpable relief I felt when I was finally able to confirm they were safe is directly echoed in this track, as is the heart-in-mouth waiting.
ОтветитьSuper song.
ОтветитьVery enjoyable.
ОтветитьApollo 8 is by far my favourite mission. It doesn't get as much recognition as Apollo 11, but in my opinion it was as or even more significant.
ОтветитьSublime, Onirico............................................................
ОтветитьI get goosebumps everytime I listen to this song
ОтветитьExcelente!!
ОтветитьI'm not crying...you're crying...😢
ОтветитьThis whole entire album is just an incredible piece of art. Chills every time, with every song.
ОтветитьThe most unique British band since Roxy Music.
ОтветитьThis is AWESOME!!!!!!
ОтветитьUltimate Soundtrack to the best things that humankind ever achieved
ОтветитьThis is music
Ответить7, 7, 7, 7.....feet per second
Ответить50 Years... good night, good luck, and a Merry Christmas to all, all of you on the Good Earth...
Ответить50 years on from the Apollo 8 Lunar Orbit Insertion.
This track still gives me a shiver - so so good, and captures the moment wonderfully!
50 years ago today.
WTF have we done since?
Esto suena genial.
ОтветитьI've seen this band from Ullapool to Berlin and they never fail to knock me off my feet.
ОтветитьLIVE IN OPORTO 3.12 HARD CLUB
ОтветитьApollo Control, Houston, 2 minutes 50 seconds from time of L.O.S. Now
Our distance away from the Moon 460 nautical miles, velocity 7417 feet per second
Here in Mission Control, we're standing by
There's uh certainly a great deal of anxiety at this moment
We acquire at 36 minutes
So at 68 hours 55 minutes, continuing to monitor, this is Apollo Control
So at this time we're gonna stand by
And continue to monitor the loops here in Mission Control for our 'go'/'no-go' decision
1 minute 30 seconds away now from Loss Of Signal
Our distance away from the Moon now 401 nautical miles,
Velocity reading 7535, as we continue with this flight of Apollo 8
Apollo 8, Houston, 1 minute to L.O.S., all systems go
Our flight control team in Mission Control here has examined the data and it looks good
So we have a combined crew-ground decision, we are 'go', repeat 'go', for lunar orbit insertion 1
Apollo 8, 10 seconds to go, you're 'go' all the way
Roger
Thanks a lot, troops
We'll see you on the other side
We've had, uh, Loss Of Signal with Apollo 8, at 68 hours 58 minutes 45 seconds,
We will watch with continuing interest the A.O.S. Clock here in Mission Control
They're travelling over the back side of the Moon now
Our velocity reading here 7777 feet per second
Now we are in our period of the longest wait
Continuing to monitor, this is Apollo Control, Houston
Apollo Control, Houston, we've acquired signal but no voice contact yet, we're standing by
We're looking at engine data and it looks good; tank pressure's looking good
Apollo 8, Apollo 8, this is Houston, Houston over?
Roger, Houston
We read you loud and clear
How do you read us?
Right, we've got it, we've got it
Apollo 8 now in lunar orbit; there's a cheer in this room
This is Apollo Control, Houston, switching now to the voice of Jim Lovell
By 60.5. Good to hear your voice
The unmanned Lunar Orbiter spacecraft traversed the moon perhaps over 10, 000 times,
But this is the first that a man aboard reported to his compatriots here on Earth
As other people have already mentioned. This album should be on the curriculum for anyone doing modern history, music or science at school. Words fail me is all I can say...
