The Problem With Kingdom Hearts

I respect the opinion, but I disagree with your takes on KH2. I feel like the writing isn't stupid when you look at it. It may seem confusing, but that's the point, you're not kept in the loop about what a lotta this stuff means until the end and some may not like that, but that's what the game wants you to feel and apon replays when you realize that, it's very creative.

I thought it was pretty clear that the final fantasy characters aren’t supposed to be taken straight from there games since they all come from hollow bastion and not like midgar or like whatever they’d be from where as Disney characters can act like how they normally do because there actually from there Disney worlds

All he needs to do is scrap the messy story and just go with a new, simple premise. If KH4 is just sora trying to save kairi again, that’d be much better than constantly finding out that people are duplicate copies of themselves inside a computer but not really

i love kingdom hearts i own all the games. yes thr story can be confusing but the emotional weight and the love the characters and their back stories bring makes it worth it. another thing is the game gives you details on things but just enough to where you learn more in another game. to alot of people that isnt for them but for someone like me i love the lore of it.

My wife and I were so excited for Kingdom Hearts, played the shit out of it and LOVED it. but then the story being Kingdom Hearts being a door? O_o. that's unexplained and then how convoluted the story got where they were writing by the seat of their pants without a coherent story to begin with and how much stuff they retconned, I've had fanboys get offended at my opinion but I mean Kingdom Hearts was amazing, the rest of it meh. I respect it's popularity and it's gameplay but let's be honest here. everything past KH1 story wise is a convoluted mess of a cash grab watching your video I finally learned why. I'm in complete agreement

Kingdom hearts was always bad. Those intellectual properties don't mix. We've always made fun of it. You were obviously a kid and had no idea it wasn't good.

The reason those people "know" what's going on is they obsess. Watching hundreds of videos, reading so many reddit posts, etc..
This isn't easily digestible media that you can get upon initial observation. 

There's depth to stories that reward you for going further and there's KH where you need to dig deep down to understand the basic concepts of the story past KH1.

Then, imagine disney make a comeback with an anime adaptation of kinhdom hearts because of its best plot of disney history ...right?

I still hate kingdom hearts 2. It was the biggest disappointment of my childhood. The story was forever ruined and kh1 was my favorite game of all time when I was a child. They just completely fucked up everything. Even the disney level design sucked and they removed any thinking in anything besides combat. I can’t stand how people consider kh2 a masterpiece. I really miss kh1 and all of the theories that existed before kh2 released. 31 year old man complaining, but it still hurts.

On side note, i don’t hate Nomura or think he’s a bad director. I think he and nojima screwed up bad with Kh2, but people can make mistakes. I will always appreciate their work for FF7 and the original KH1.

Just admit you grew up and it lost the magic. All of the games are quirky and flawed. You loved it because you were a kid. Same for me. But make sure you criticize kh1 as harshly as Kh dark road. Like it’s the journey not the gameplay. It’s never been about gameplay. It’s about OP fun in a world of fantasy. Sure criticize critical mode not being good enough. Sure the mechanics are inconsistent but it’s still kingdom hearts to the tea. If it was an elite combat game it would lose its charm. And if you don’t get the story you just haven’t cared enough to put in the effort to the manga or phone games or animation movies. Haters love to clickbait to make money. And tbh I get it. I should make my own wildly inaccurate hate video to get a few 100ks.

genuinely insane how fast this franchise went downhill. kh1 could’ve shaped a renaissance for classic disney, film, and gaming fans alike but was tossed away in favor of generic shounen jump tropes. as if we don’t have enough of those lol kingdom hearts 1 was a unique experience

If you think about it, Naruto and kingdom hearts are basically the same series

This explains a lot actually. I despise the FF7 remake. Not because I've played it, but because I thought I'd wait for it to be finished and in that time he managed to give the games the worst names possible, making it impossible to tell which game comes where in the story. It's not that hard to just add a "chapter X" or "part X" on the title. I never liked KH or Advent Children either so now I definitely know there's absolutely no point in checking it out, everything about it is just off putting.

You kinda have to forgive Nomura for a bit tho, he's not a writer but he has to juggle three plotlines at the same time in these games, the Disney Worlds, the Main Plot of Sora and the gang, and Final Fantasy, since Disney is the larger company and probably has strict demands, the FF characters basically just turned into generic, 1 dimensional versions of themselves in these games, you can tell that since in KH2 aside from Auron, All of the FF characters are stuck in Hollow Bastion just because they're so hard to integrate with the pre-existing plotlines of Disney Worlds

which is also the main reason FF characters are gone in KH3, my boy just can't write them well enough in the grand plotline of Kingdom Hearts that he had to just lock them in a DLC instead.

But yeah, Nomura should've probably just stick with being the designer and hand over the reigns of writing to someone, this entire series just running on Rule-of-cool and Asspulls.

I love kingdom hearts despite and because of its flaws. The story is a wild ride and I'm all for it. Kh3 remind is the shit especially if you've played the games reading up to it. It hits way harder.
