ОтветитьDear Richard, I am enjoying this music again this advent, and my favourite remains God rest ye merry, gentlemen. That ending is sublime! Listening to it on repeat at the moment. Thank you!
ОтветитьAmazing, just amazing
ОтветитьGreetings, Richard. An excellent video, as always. Thank you. I realize that your entire existence does not revolve around pleasing me; nevertheless, it would please me greatly if you would cease playing the organ in your socks. It's unbecoming a professional, and it may lead aspiring organists to believe that it is OK to do so. It is not, of course. Granted, you are on the road and perhaps you forgot to pack your organ shoes; if that is the case, fine, but perhaps it would be a good idea to explain your situation n such cases.
ОтветитьDear RM, Cheers for superlative music. How about some Australian carols?
No. 1. The three drovers
No. 2. The silver stars are in the sky (lullaby carol)
No. 3. Christmas day
No. 4. Carol of the birds
No. 5. Christmas bush for his adorning.
My soul soars❣️ Thank you Caroline & Richard ✝️🎼🎶🎵

ОтветитьThis is absolutely stunning from beginning to end. Beautiful music for Christmas Eve! And it ends with Widor's Toccata. This organ and Richard McVeigh are totally amazing! One thing I missed though. Where is St Edmundsbury Cathedral? 😃

ОтветитьThis organ looks the size of a building to me! Excellent sound and playing, by the way.
ОтветитьSo beautiful 😇😊❤👍👂Thank you for this, Richard McVeigh ❤💙💚💛💜
ОтветитьActually, it's "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen." "You" is accusative; "ye" is nominative. Since the pronoun is the direct object in this case, it must be "you." But I will give you credit for getting the comma in the right place. In the music books in my elementary school, the title appeared as "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen." This mistake shows that whoever created that music book had no idea what the title means. Two words in the title are used in archaic ways. "Rest" in this instance means "keep," and "merry" means "holy." Therefore, the meaning in modern-day English would be "God keep you holy, gentlemen." This is also true of the phrase "Merry Christmas." We're not wishing people to be jolly during the holiday, we're wishing them to be holy. The same is true of the phrase "Merry old England." England used to be renowned for its holiness. God knows, that certainly isn't true today.
ОтветитьVon himmel hoch - A mighty fortress - Thank you Maestro ❣️
