Making Peppermint Candy Cold Process Soap and Cutting an Additional Stop

The winter holidays are not quite here yet, but for us soapers, because cold process soaps require at least 4 weeks to properly cure, we have to think ahead. I hope that during this special time, that you'll think about buying from small businesses and cottage industries. It supports small business and you will certainly get your hands on some unique products.

I love being able to make many of my own gifts for family and friends. It's part of my tradition since I started making soap to make a few particularly themed soaps for the holidays. However, I continue to try to make beautiful soaps that are not particularly themed. A gift that is beautiful is appropriate for any occasion, right?

Well, that's exactly what I'm making in in this video: one themed soap and another that is not so themed. I've selected a "tasty" fragrance oil for the holiday version. It smells just like candy canes and it's colored with the obligatory white, green and red. The other, my Dead Sea Clay soap is a blue, feel-good soap. I didn't even think about the fact that this clay is actually collected from the Dead Sea in the Holy land. Most of all, I hope that all my videos brings a certain amount of cheer to you all. Im newer to cold process soaping and am experimenting with white kaolin clay. I had a quick question if you don't mind.

You add your clays straight to your oils?

This seems like it would work best for me but i don't know too much about additives.
ive seen some people mix it with their lye water but i can never get it in the lye water bc the containers are small.

Love this soap, I need to get going making some for Christmas, it is hard to get a real red mica here in Australia unless we have it shipped from the US. I love how calming you are, a zen master.

It really does look like a candy cane doesn't it? Don't worry about the messy soap making, I can sometimes make a big mess as well. It's only soap and cleans up well enough. Great looking bars.

I've never done a tilted or even regular tiger swirl. I must say you've made it something I'm going to add to my list of soaps to try to make! Thank you for the video, it ws an awesome way to spend my 1st cuppa time this morning.
