So I pay 60 a hour to make sound for my song i wrote I never sign a contract. He when and copyright saying 50percent his and 50percent mines.i did 2 album 1 is uploaded to BMI.i think I should own those beats .and if not so why. My payment recited .show I pay. Tell je what to do.

I completely understand what you’re saying. Here’s my thing, I don’t want to own the producer’s intellectual property. When it comes down to the “New Song”, which is the producers beat and my lyrics on top of them, does the producer still own 100% of the master recording or is it split 50/50?

Any time I ask a producer before hand, they have no idea what I’m talking about. They say I don’t want anything from you besides the money for the non exclusive beat and so on.

I just need clarity on this because I have a soundexchange and songtrust account, and I don’t want to run into ownership issues.

Looks like I need to get a LLC so I can use the EIN number to have it receive all money my music makes. But first I need to copy wright the song and thennnn… get my own publishing company before registering with with a distributor and PRO… right?

Lmmfao at all of the amateurs who really suck at making good marketable music going through all of these steps perfectly setting up a business model without ever been told or even considering the fact that their music is garbage. I seen it happen so many times! This channel along with other instructional informal platforms are hilarious because even with all the right information, nothing can prepare you for the totally legal fuckery that is the music industry.

The funny part is that people who’s master recordings are sought after are the ones who won’t follow these steps because of the threat of (and usually the result of) being blackballed.
