I would have put Speeris Legacy as the Zelda-like game on this list.
There was only one problem with Jetstrike for me - the climb/dive controls were reversed depending on which way you were flying. However everything else was top-notch. Anyone else enjoy squeezing your plane through the tunnel under the massive hill?
Also Simon The Sorcerer = Harry Potter prototype, sorry JK!
Man I dreamed about getting a CD32 as a kid but my A500+ didn't disappoint! All my friends had consoles like the megadrive and snes but me with my Amiga I thought was superior. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. It's been about 25 years since I played my Amiga and I'm slowly remembering and looking up the great games from my collection. Gotta say that Chaos Engine music is so good!
ОтветитьChris 'Rimmer' barrie was awesome as Simon
ОтветитьStill love my CD32 and collection
ОтветитьFire and Ice is not the same, the original didn't have the parallax scrolling. It's a really hard game though once you get past the Ice stage....brilliant though, love the music.
ОтветитьGreat list, although I would probably included Pirates! Gold and D\Generation. :-) The latter seems to be a bit overlooked, but it's actually kind of fantastic. It's an isometric action/puzzle game with great atmosphere, well worth checking out if that is your sort of thing.
ОтветитьI know we are all entitled to our opinion, but i am amazed gaming got too where we are now...... Because my god there was some crap about lol.
From consoles as bad as the Jaguar, Mega CD, 3D0, CDi....... and this, should have been called the Amiga Platform 32.
There were some shocking games too.
I think Cannon Fodder and Alien Breed 3D were the only games worth having on this system, which is 2 more than any of the others mentioned.
What a great review of a quite exhaustive list. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
ОтветитьIt was an awesome machine but...the 1KB rom killed this console for me. if you played Xcom (probably my fav, i played the A500 but CD32 only allowed u to build 3 bases which ramped the difficulty) or any other game, you couldn't play anything else until you finished it as there was only enough memory for 1 save of any game at any time! i had a notebook with the highscores for the pinball, race games and shmups as they were continually being wiped. And Elite frontier was so bugged i actually wrote a letter of complaint to Gametek, i think it was. I still have the A500 and CD32 in the loft..one day i will play them again..or pass them on to the grandkids.
ОтветитьSuper Skidmarks was great on a regular floppy - the tracks were all .iff files that you could load up in dpaint and scribble about on - we had hours of fun vandalising the tracks with random nonsense
ОтветитьAn interesting list, it’s a shame it didn’t last long. Didn’t play the games though.
ОтветитьCool selection!
ОтветитьAnother good mark of the Amiga CD-32 💿 is that it didn’t have the NES-Censors
ОтветитьSorry, but Genesis and Snes games run rings around these.
ОтветитьKinda sad that most these titles are just Amiga 1200 ones anyway. It had so few original games
Ответитьa cd game without in game music lol
ОтветитьI disagree about beneath a steel sky.
The dos version is the best because there wasn't the disc searching delay before every single time someone spoke.
It didn't bother me too much back then but now it makes the game on the cd32 unplayable.
Awesome!
ОтветитьAlways good to see Roadkill in the list, great CD32 version (and of course, Fury of the Furries, which is still the best game on the Amiga).
ОтветитьOdd that you stopped at "30" when you could have gone for the obvious "32 Best Amiga CD32 games"
ОтветитьI remember countless hours playing ufo enemy unknown in Amiga cd 32 when I was a kid...
I was so stuck on it I've made a combination between controller and joystick because the controller was damaged to keep playing
I can’t believe kang-fu didn’t make the top spot!
ОтветитьI now realize why the system failed. They look bad for what was supposed to be one of, if not the first 32 bit system.
ОтветитьIf you like speedball you might like dirty pigskin on mame.
Ответитьtoobin'.mame outfoxies - enable gsl?
ОтветитьPathetic list..
Didn't include beaver, Oscar and diggers and sleepwalker
This is horrible it costs 400 usd against 199 usd of the snes 😂😂😂😂😂😂 and look all the games lol😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьPinball Illusions was BY FAR better than the Fantasy !
ATR should be highter imo, it's a really really good game for this period
Shadow Fighter is excellent but got fucked by 2 buttons controller ...
Amiga AGA (1200 or CD32) has the best version of all, especially for the colors palette
damn, where is Flight for the Amazon Queen game ??? :(
This is why the CD32 was a nail to the coffin. Almost all games weren't even enhanced for the hardware. They were just A500 floppy games stuffed on CD with added intro or CD Audio music. The Lost Vikings didn't get the backgrounds known from other ports. Also CD medium could fit plenty of games, so they could be released as bundles with like 10 games from the same studio. This really shows the greed and how C= was turned into mess.
ОтветитьDiggers,Oscar???
ОтветитьAlien breed assault is sooooo hotline miami!!! Damm, HLM is CLEARLY inspired by that
ОтветитьDas Gelaber nervt
ОтветитьHI!
If you talk to the so-called "Amigistas," they describe this machine as God on earth, when in reality.......
the Amiga CD32 was the console that made the biggest FLOP in the entire history of game consoles!!!!...Selling around 30/40 thousand units all over the world.
It came out in 1993, it only lasted a few months, and then Commodore FAILURE, because it brought with it a whole series of incredible FAILURES, like the Amiga 500, (and as much as the Amiga fans "Amiga fans," say it well of the latter machine) "the Amiga 500" has sold just 3/4 million units worldwide!!...Truly RIDICULOUS!!!...
Then the great FLOP of the "Amiga 600", 2000, 1200, CDTV, "Commodore 16", and 128, the latter (data in hand, and therefore there can be NO opinion!..) only sold a few thousand pieces in the world, CRAZY!!!!!!!
The only "flagship bearer" of Commodore's only stroke of luck was the legendary "Commodore 64."
For the rest, all its products have always done very, very badly in sales, and it is no coincidence that at the end of 1993, it rightly FAILURE!!!!
It should be further underlined regarding "the Amiga CD32," that in addition to there being no exclusive and important games, therefore "Killer applications," but only some direct porting ( simple conversion ) from Amiga 500, and other real CRAP, its construction, the manufacturing of the machine, was really of VERY BAD quality , the assemblies were fake, components of very poor quality, always had problems reading the tracks, problems with the CD door, and much much more, and the technical resolutions hardware logistics of positioning (power button, JoyPad ports, etc... )Really questionable!!
The JoyPad itself was really bad in terms of shape and operation...
On paper it boasted incredible performances, but instead it simply SUCKED!!!!
It cost a lot of money for NOTHING!!!!
It wasn't even a REAL 32Bit!!!
With that arrogant writing above the CD door......🤣🤣....Because in reality the Data Buses were 24Bit!!...And therefore we are also talking about commercial fraud!!!
The color was sewer rat grey, truly horrible!!
Money thrown in the WASTE BIN!!!!
In short, a REAL and AUTHENTIC DRY DOG SHIT!!!...
nice list, nice video :) yeah, i can confirm that Alien Breed gets better with practice. i played it a lot throughout the years, every now and then, but only recently really got into it. i always thought of it as a shoot-em-up, but it's more like survival-horror. it has a slower rhythm, requires a little bit of restraint. it's a real thriller. :-)
ОтветитьI didn't even know there was that many CD32 games
ОтветитьNo save feature with this console. How was this even signed off.
ОтветитьEnjoy how you show the title screen for each game before moving on!
ОтветитьSimon The Sorcerer is brilliant. Chris Barrie's voice makes that game.
ОтветитьI often wonder what the CD32 could have been capable of in the visuals and graphics department. I know AGA was only a minor evolution step over ECS, although m ore noticeable if you can see the same game side by side in both format. But the CD32 must have been capable of more than what the older ported games offered up in this regard. I know it likely could not have matched the PS1, but how could it have compared to the Sega x32 or Dreamcast?
ОтветитьCan I just say, I absolutely adore your videos. I'm a UK based retro gamer and I just love to see my childhood memories (gaming-wise) unwrapped for me to look through. Great channel, top bloke, thank you.
ОтветитьMany Amiga CD32 games were direct ports from the Amiga 1200 that only used one button. The system was underpowered and the catalog didn't have exclusives with enough weight to be a must-buy. The console was expensive and its lifespan was short. Even if Commodore had survived, it wouldn't have stood a chance against the PSX, Saturn, or N64.
Ответитьfor me in a hypothetical ranking they should never have been missing: Dune2 - MEgalomania - Utopia - Kick Off and above all Player Manager - Pinball Fantasies - Eye of Beholder and Civilization
ОтветитьI remember for months all the Amiga magazines at the time were gushing over the forthcoming CD32. Then when it came out a mate of mine at the time got one and it was just so boring The only thing 'CD' about it were the soundtracks, but that wasn't enough. So disappointing.
ОтветитьBest games are: Diggers, Street Fighter 2 turbo, Theme Park.
ОтветитьW All Terrain Racing, Arabian Nights, Superfrog, Bubba`n`Stix, Super Stardust i większość innych grałem na A500.
Ответитьmaybe the original amiga joystick release had too few separate buttons
Ответить"Vikings" by "Silcon & Synapse"... Today the company is known as "Blizzard Entertainment" or "DMA Design" is now called "Rockstar"
Ответить'the best cd32 games' is an oxymoron 😂 had this system as a youngun and it was absolute shite
ОтветитьWAYHAYYYYY!!!!!
Nice video bud, knew you wouldn't dissapoint xx
