The Ashramam, established by Sree Narayana Guru in 1913, lies on the banks of the river Periyar.

On March 3rd and 4 th of 1924, on the occasion of Sivarathri day, a meeting of leaders from all religions called Sarvamatha sammelanam was held at this Ashramam .This was 2nd of its kind in the world.

Offerings to ancestors called bali tharpan Is also conducted here.

This is an amazing place with a calm and cool aura located to the banks of river Periyar.

In 1916, Sree Narayana Guru set up a Sanskrit school to restore the sanctity of the language by which universal spiritual teachings can be grasped and imparted to dedicated disciples.

A small building,Vaidika Madom located next to the Sanskrit school was where Guru rested and spent much of his time while at Aluva. Daily morning prayers are conducted here.
It is now part of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Higher Secondary School, Aluva.

The old Sanskrit school is linked to history in its own way. “Poet Kumaran Asan is said to have stayed here and wrote several poems sitting at the balcony.
