While I had heard of deleteme services in the past, I decided to check them out after this video.

Their website is quite confusing when it comes to sorting through the services they offer. I certainly did not see anything that led me to a subscription that would provide the reports and feedback you show in this video.

Granted I spent less than 5 minutes on their site, so additional research will be needed. I was just disappointed to not find a well laid out chart or something describing different plan tiers and offerings.

"Do Not Sell My Personal Information" (DNSMPI) is a link on a website that allows users to opt out of the sale of their personal information. It's also known as a "Do Not Sell My Data" notice.

Will this service contact local media to remove a person's name from a media story? If not, what services can accomplish this?

I was granted an expungement, so any references to my prior case have been sealed. However, when I run my name through a Google search, my name pops up in a WKYC story with reference to my indictment. I have attempted to contact them myself (with a copy of the expungement order), however, they have not replied to me after several attempts to contact them via email.

Any suggestions?

Isn't it kinda dishonest to "review" a product you have a sponsor with? How are your viewers supposed to take you seriously when you clearly have a bias in making the service look good? Also data brokers don't actually delete your data, just hides them. If they sold their databases your data will come back up, so their marketing is also extremely misleading. To anyone reading this, the best way to keep your data safe, is to not put them out in the first place. If you use the internet however, unless you are extremely in the know about all the technical stuff, you are bound to have some data going around, we gave up on our privacy a long time ago and called people who complained and protested "paranoid" or "conspiracy theorist".

It's interesting how you have to give your personnal info to an app that will store it in their cloud server, in an effort to remove your personnal info from online servers, while also spending money. I would not even beleive all the stats the app is showing you either : ''we found your info here and there and your data was removed successfully''. The reports the app show you could be fabricated for all we know how do you even verify what they are telling you is true ? No one will actually go look in those data brokers databases. It's like when someone says : ''I want to fight global warming, so I will buy an electric car''. If you don't want your personnal info to be online, and you are reading this, it's probably already too late. Just using the internet and going on websites is information that is gathered on you to send you targeted adds. The only thing you can do is try to resist and not buy whatever the screen is showing you to buy. Maybe the app really works and find your info online but I doupt it. A way to know would be to create a fake identity that never went online before. If the app shows it found something online then it is defenitly a scam, but if it's not showing anything it would be legit.

waste of money paying a company to "apparently" get your information deleted as if you need to permanently pay a subscription to this company to get your information deleted if it's an apparent on-going thing then this suggests obviously your information isn't getting totally deleted as "it's on-going" (obviously). And it is kind of pointless as soon as you'd pay these companies to do this "any other person" would be on the internet as it's a daily thing for us people now and your information is once again and always being collected. It's just stupid to pay companies, your information gets collected in life, what are you going to do about it, it's how the world turns round.. 🤷‍♂🤔

How do they even manage to remove information from server what they do not even own? Request to remove? why would they remove? Removing on public but still selling it in a database? Even on dark web where they have 0 access. Seems pretty much a scam.

how ironic! in the old days, we had to pay to put our info in White Book or yellow pages which I never done! NOW, we have to pay $$$$$$ to have our Personal Info to be removed.
Scary to think, if you are trying to move away from abusive relationship or stalkers...they can easily find you. Our Privacy Laws sucks!
if your name somehow show up with your info overseas will they be able to removed those info?

Technically, the answer to the question posed in the title of the video is *NO*. DeleteMe does NOT really erase your online data. It only makes your data temporarily invisible to the public. The data brokers do NOT actually delete your data from their servers as a result of actions by an individual or the DeleteMe service. The data on data broker servers remains there, but is tagged as 'not viewable' on their website. This means they can sell their database to another company, or the broker can create a new company with a new name and your data will once again be publicly visible. This is why data brokers never use the terms 'Delete Request'. They always use the terms 'Opt Out Request' or 'Removal Request'. I wouldn't be surprised if some attorney starts a class action lawsuit against DeleteMe for that very reason. Their service does not actually delete your data. They should have named their company HideMe or something like that to avoid misleading people.

When a broker removes the info, what's stopping them from adding it back again later? Does the request include a clause to keep it off for a period of time, or does the service re-submit removal requests every so often?

Thanks for the thorough video. Question though: you sort of touched on this when you mentioned “facebook” deletion, but I am an actor with online reviews, links, personal website, etc. I WOULD NOT want any of that deleted. I do not want to be totally erased from the internet. The only info I’m interested in having removed is birthdate/ address/ phone number/etc. So, just to confirm: deleteme will only delete personal information such as that? It will not erase the content associated with my name that I actually want online, such as personal website, reviews, social media, etc.? Thank you

I noticed you said that you have to answer questions to confirm your identity via their online portal. Obviously they are making money from subscriptions. Is it within the realm of possibility that a company like this is taking the identity info you are confirming to them and then posting your info on these various sites, therefore giving them more work to do and thus insuring that they are making a steady stream of $$$ from you by continuing to use their services?

Great vid - just a skeptical question... how does DeleteMe manage data? Is there any way they (the company themselves) harvest data from anyone using their service? For instance, is paying for the service classed as giving them 'permission' to use or otherwise process your data?

Would be pretty ironic if companies like DeleteMe & Incogni turned out to be massive data collection agencies that're trying to 'legally' obtain the data of millions of people through the back door. In essence, condense those hundreds of data collection agencies down to just a small handful... & charge Joe Blogs for the privilege.

Interested to hear your thoughts on this Bro 🤔
