Excellent setup, turning and milling of the keyway Adam. For the 100th I would love to hear some family history from early days with a few pictures. Also the shop tour would be great with an update on plans for outside under the shop extension. You need to plan something as Mr Rucker is trying to outdo you on shop size. lol Thanks for sharing and regards from the UK.
ОтветитьHey Adam, I'm not an experienced machinist, so forgive me if this is a silly question, but why do you measure the depth of the keyway from its sides? Don't you want to go down 1/2 inch from the original top surface? To me, the way you measured it means it's 0.528 deep.
ОтветитьHi AdamAgain a brilliant video. Keep them coming.Regards, Ted
ОтветитьDamn, I still love that welding fixture table. It's great!
ОтветитьI'ld like you to drop that welding fixture table off at my house, LOL.
Ответитьmy personal preference for the 100th saturday night special would be the historical fact you mentioned as well as an updated tour of the shop tools. Thanks for your videos !
ОтветитьMaybe strippers! but i might draw the line at naked machining, dunno how how chips would work out! still they'd make you dance. Part of the 100 is making it fun for you to make, but always enjoy the content and that you are in touch with your community as much now as before, that is a very hard standard to achieve. Congrats Adam, I will be here for sns 200!
ОтветитьThanks to you I'm now a poor but happy man with a lathe and a mill in my garage! It's even more fun than it looks!
ОтветитьAdam why can you use power when tapping but when hand tapping you have to back up and break the chip?
ОтветитьWatching you and a four jaw chuck is like poetry in motion. You always make it look soooo easy. Is that belt sander homemade? I'd like to get a better look at it some day. Looking forward to your 100 SNS. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьAdam,
I would like to know the history of your shop and if your Dad (God Rest Him) had a hand in the shop. Also about your Granddad who was a machinist. Maybe a new shop tour for the newer guys.
Enjoyed the keyway cutting very nice.
Congrats on the upcoming SNS 100.
Best,
Jeff
I am with Don Cossitt , What ever ya decide to do Adam , I am sure We will enjoy !! Great keyway cut man ..
Ответитьwhat kinda of acer mill is that?
ОтветитьShop tour would be nice again .I would like to send you one of my shirts need size and address please !!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьLike the idea of a shop tour, and maybe a bit of history about your shop and what got you into the trade. As a new viewer sent over by AvE, it'd be nice to get acquainted (so to speak).
ОтветитьTour of the shop would be cool and maybe talk about how you got started in machining. Maybe a funny story from child hood or something? Love the channel man keep it up! 100!
ОтветитьHow do you measure length of shafts. I can't imagine a tape measure would be accurate enough.
ОтветитьYes would like to see a new shop tore been wondering what's in the blue box love your show I have been wanting to get into doing some machining I am currently a diesel mechanic in a small town and this would be a handy skill and craft to learn
ОтветитьFor the 100th you should definitely do a shop tour and bloopers. I would love to hear the history of all you machines both how your family got them and the history and specs of the machine itself (especially the monarch). Your videos are great, I look forward to them every week.
ОтветитьWhen I first saw your videos I saw that table in the background and wondered about it, imagine how happy I was when I found out you made a whole series on how you made it!
I would really like to hear an update about it,, just how it has worked out for you generally and if there is anything you would have done differently if you did it again.
nice work .... out takes are always good
ОтветитьHi Adam, You always seem to have very sharp cutting tools . Can you show how you sharpen and hone your drills and cutting systems?I enjoy you channel! Thanks skip smithRichmond VA
Ответить100TH - COOKING WITH (( SMELLA-VIDEO )) ??? :-)
ОтветитьI think it would be great if you talk a little about the history of your father's shop, I mean how it started, how you started to work with him, etc, etc.
ОтветитьAdam, for the one-hundredth show, you could do something good to get even with that little prankster on the west coast.
ОтветитьAdam. I would appreciate a shop tour. Also, how about a bit of your background? What got you interested in machining? School or school of experience? Thanks.
Ответитьshop tour, blue lista tool box tour, shop history for episode 100
ОтветитьGood video Adam. Do you ever use a follower rest? I have one for my lathe, but not sure when to use it. I am in the process of making new rollers for my steady rest.
Also, did you get my email about the starrett catalog I wanted to send? I'm not sure if I sent it to the right email. I sent it twice, but haven't heard back from you.
Hey Adam, not sure if you'll ever see this, but just wondering if you've ever thought about streaming on twitch? In recent months there has been a creative section made for anything from art to blacksmithing, graphics, engineering etc. Just wondered really, who knows maybe you'd like the interaction, but then again maybe it would just distract you and/or detract from the quality video editing you do. In any case I love watching your vids, really inspirational. Thanks.
ОтветитьThat shirt sure is a skookum choocher, eh? Keep that stick on the ice.
ОтветитьAdam, I support Fred Newman's suggestion. May we hear about how Grandpa Booth and your father John ran Booth machining? The best stories come from the old blokes who "have the stuff under their fingernails," and your forebears were certainly in that class.
Photographs, tools, stories, documents?
for 100 sns Tell us some interesting stories from workshops
ОтветитьHi Adam Nice shaft work Best John
ОтветитьHey Adam how about the history of your career. Like how you got started from start to now.God job on vids btw👍👌
ОтветитьHi Why not show the difference in toolholding lantern , and the difference on wedge ,piston and 40 position toolholders .
ОтветитьThe shop re-tour is cool. Maybe even add in some ideas about what you want to change in the future.
Ответитьnice one Adam. Love the AvE shirt.
ОтветитьOh you got a new roller steady rest thing. Nice (I'm not a machinist I just like watching your videos).
ОтветитьThanks for the great channel, Adam! As as person totally new to the machine-shop world, I'd sure like to see you host a tour of your shop during episode 100. If you happen to have something on which to use that gigantic tap wrench sitting on your wall, like a container ship's propeller shaft (LOL), that would be cool too.
ОтветитьHi Adam, what is the spindle system on the big acra mill?
Ответитьот чего интересно такой вал. intresting, what this shaft?
Ответитьthe toolholder could be from Hertel (now Kennametal). Hertel designated such inserts with a long combination of numbers like 1.81201L171 . Ebay offers many of those old inserts
ОтветитьThis was excellent, Adam, thank you very much- I will be able to do more machining when I eventually get another lathe and my first mill. I have not yet needed to use a steady rest, but when I do, I'll be more knowledgeable now- Thanks again- Paul
Ответитьhi...can you show me how to center the tall shaft in steady rest with tolerance less .01inch...beacuse i cant
ОтветитьBrother Most people want to see how you can make a copy of a complex part on the milling machine or how you can turn something which is difficult to turn. And then you have the Guys who have been working with this stof for a long time and they just are interested to look at it while you are working. Generally I really believe people want to see these kind of things. I do hope it helps
ОтветитьThanks Adam I like your workmanship I love you 👍👍
ОтветитьWHY DON'T YOU MAKE THE FOUR JAW CHUCK FOR YOUR BIG MONARCH TAILSTOCK LIKE YOU USED IN YOUR FATHER SHOP. THAT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD TOOL FOR YOUR WORK.
ОтветитьPerfect
ОтветитьHey Adam love your Chanel keep up the great work
Dit you find some info about the new rabbit tool bit your were given
Thanks
Best regards Martin knudsen Denmark
